I'm so relieved that the costume is done I feel like it's Christmas! I've been knitting all day just because I could :)
I did a bit of DH's sweater, I've used up one ball out of thirteen now, I did a little of the Making Waves socks and I also cast on for Emily's lace cap and knit around 2 inches of that.
Yay!! for knitting :)
In other happy news, my Magnolia flowered today! Please note that I have a black thumb, I am notorious for being unable to grow anything. The flower looks a little crummy, but at least I have one. Especially seeing as the lady next door has a gorgeous pink magnolia that is covered in flowers.

And there are more buds ready to bloom :)

Growing stuff is a mystery to me. My neighbor has flowers brimming over, and my plants look like a nuclear bomb went off. Oh well. The costume looks great! Back to knitting - hooray!

I have the worst luck with Magnolias. I can't kill catnip (which my boys appreciate) but I can't get a bud out of my Magnolias to save my life. I finally got about three blooms out of one (an indoor, potted bush) and then put it outside for the summer and the neighbors cat peed on it, so now I have a brown twig where my Magnolia used to be! So you may not be up to par with the neighbor, but you've got me beat!

How cool to have a Magnolia blooming in August! But then I guess it's spring there, isn't it? Once you're magnolia is established, it's practically impossible to kill it. We had one in the front of the house where I grew up. It sat in the shade, we didn't take care of it and it stll bloomed year after year. I remember collecting the new petals in my wagon.

Cheers
