Here is DH's sweater being modelled!

Twinky is directing the photo shoot :) The sweater is coming up a little darker than it really is.
The pattern came from the winter issue of Creative Knitting (Australia). The yarn is Jo Sharp DK Silkroad in the colour Serpentine. I knitted the Large size, and used 13 1/2 balls. The pattern recommended 13 balls, but I usually use more than the pattern says. My row gauge was off, and I changed the stitch pattern to get gauge! The lengths I go to....
I wrote this up as finished in my Handy Dandy Notebook last night, and was surprised to find that I started this sweater on July 1. 3 and a half months! Anyway, now it is done, yay!
The picture is kinda dark because of the weather in Sydney today.
Sky shot!
It's raining now, but I'm not complaining, Lord knows we need it! Despite our current water restrictions, the dickhead next door was washing his car with the hose yesterday (with the carport roller door down so to escape notice) Never mind the river of soapy water running down the driveway, or the sound of his hose. DH took umbrage and dobbed him in. Mind you, it's the third time we've seen him do it. It is currently an offence in Sydney to use a hose to wash your car due to the lack of water in the dams. We aren't sure if the water police came or not.
I certainly hope they're having better weather in Rhinebeck.
Better yet, I wish I was in Rhinebeck!

Hooray for an FO! It looks great on him.
Posted by: Jill at October 18, 2004 12:21 AMIt came out great. I have the yarn to make my dh a new sweater but haven't picked out a pattern yet. They do take forever to make for the men. I think it took me 6 months to make his first one. I kept getting bored with it. I wish I could have went to Rhinebeck too! I am only 2 hours from it but was broke.
Posted by: Karen at October 18, 2004 02:11 AMThe sweater is fantastic! Good for you for completing a man's sweater...took me 3 years to finish my hubby's. :D
Posted by: Michelle at October 18, 2004 03:11 AMThe sweater looks great. Are the buttons wood or metal?
It wasn't too bad weatherwise at Rhinebeck. A little windy at times and the sun was in and out. I lasted about 3 hours and only saw a few people I knew. I must have always been at the wrong area of the fair.
Posted by: Suzanne at October 18, 2004 04:37 AMIt's looking gray over here too...and a few sprinkles...made a mess of my car! Yeah for the finished sweater! Your hubby is a big guy. Mine's big too, super long arms and broad shouldered. Luckily, he doesn't want me to make him anything! I would probably get bored with a large sweater. I have enough trouble finishing a size small for myself!
Posted by: Evelyn at October 18, 2004 09:39 AMre: Water Usage
Last summer we had someone in our street who stood outside hosing down the rocks and pebbles he was going to put in his carefully landscaped garden. I cannot understand how self-centered you'd have to be to think that wastage like that was somehow okay as long as it was you doing the wasting.
So, good work DH!
Posted by: Dean at October 18, 2004 02:02 PMNow that is one Manly Sweater!!! Your DH looks fantastic in it. I particularly like the collar and tweediness of the yarn. Very nice, Donna!
I can't stand selfish people like your neighbor. Next time, take a photo of the soapy water coming out of his garage and show it to the Water Police!
Posted by: Becky at October 18, 2004 06:19 PMTerrific dh sweater and envious finishing time! I like the colors of your new sweater too. I have to start my first KPS pattern--I am looking forward to it.
Posted by: Kathleen at October 18, 2004 10:49 PMWhy is it that Ausie men are always so attractive? Yay for the break in the weather. DH's sweater looks awesome.
Posted by: La at October 19, 2004 03:03 AMCongratulations Donna! It looks great on him and I'm very impressed with how quickly you knitted it.
Good work on dobbing in the neighbour- So unnecessary when there are plenty of carwash venues who are recycling water!
Wahh. I wanna be in Rhinebeck too. Even if I am broke and have a room full of fiber toys. Good on you, too for turning in the car wash guy.
