I got mail!
All that is for this.
I saw Monica's and thought that it would be a pretty good way to start Fair Isle. There's only 14 colours. Yes, 14. :)
Monica offered to get the kit for me, but then she told me about the Shetland Wool Brokers, and the price was similar, but I got full balls from there. Thanks, Monica!
Only trouble is that they were out of colour 135, so I'm waiting for that ball - and of course, that's needed in row 10. Have I mentioned that I know nothing about Fair Isle?
Finished baby clothes!
Baby Boy's cardi and hat set.
First cardi for baby girl. I started this one way back, and all I had left was the bands. I'm not happy with the button placement, but I'll leave it, or I'll never stop fussing with it. Besides, I'm also knitting her this.
It's a Cleckheaton pattern, from the same book as the blue outfit. I'm changing it a little, though. It calls for crochet around the edges, and I can't crochet. So I'm just doing garter bands. I've got some mauve 4ply stashed, so I'm using that. I like lacy babies :)
The tiara didn't stay there for long, but I proudly present Princess Twinkie!

those baby clothes that you knit is sooo cute!!!
Posted by: Michelle at June 22, 2005 06:56 PMPrincess Twinky rocks! I like the look on her face, the "I'm taking this headgear off the second she's done taking the picture" look. Great baby outfits - lucky babies. Be sure to post a picture of the lacey one too. And wow on the hat pattern and yarn - very cool. Glad your wheels are repaired.
Cheers,
Pam
I hope they send you color 135 soon. If not, let me know. Your baby sweaters are so cute! I really like the stripey one. And the look on Miss Twinky's face with the tiara is sooo funny. So nonchalant. Like it's to be expected!
Posted by: monica at June 23, 2005 02:26 AMWhen you decide to try something new, you really jump in with both feet, eh? I thought that was a way cool hat too but can't figure out when I would wear something like that. I love Twinkie's tiara! These baby things must be so quick to knit up. What a sense of accomplishment!
Posted by: Evelyn at June 23, 2005 03:12 AMWhat a couragous way to learn fair isle. I started with a simple 4 color scarf. How boring am I. You're much more fun to follow! ;-) hehehe.
Posted by: Mel at June 23, 2005 05:33 AMAre you sure Twinkie wouldn't like a long, long trip somewhere a lot further north of you? What an adorable photo!
Posted by: Mandella at June 23, 2005 09:15 AMThat hat is going to be awesome! I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job on it too!
The baby outfits are adorable. I love knitting for babies ... Not enough to have another one myself, but enough to encourage my friends to be. *lol*
Happy knitting!
Posted by: Samantha at June 23, 2005 09:30 AMGreat baby clothes, I would like to make similar to the white and pink cardigan, just need to find a pattern or maybe make it up as I go, I am getting more game with just trying to knit as I go.
Posted by: Annie at June 23, 2005 10:34 AMYou have a very beautiful bunny :)
Posted by: Lara at June 23, 2005 08:05 PMOh, how beautiful. I've been wanting to make that fair isle hat so badly. Very pretty. Enjoy!!! The baby sweaters are cute too.
Posted by: Uli at June 24, 2005 09:24 AMI love the stripey blue suit. And don't worry, fair isle isn't that hard. It's complicated, but it certainly keeps you focussed on the pattern and it is fun watching it grow and the patterns emerge.
Hi Donna, wasn't sure to reply on my blog or yours. It would be great to meet you if you get to Wollongong Stitch N Bitch. From July we are meeting at the Novotel. See Wollongong Stitch N Bitch blog for details.
Psst, Twinkie! You probably don't realize it, but that tiara is edible.
