I got a parcel today. I love parcels :)
My friend Jill sent me my beloved magazines.
And other goodies, too :) Sockotta sock yarn, and a gorgeous beaded sock pattern from Heartstrings. How lucky am I?
A few people have asked about the inside of the Fair Isle hat. Isn't that like asking a lady her age or her weight? ;)
Oh, okay.
Isn't it lovely? All neat and tidy. Why yes, I'm quite proud, thank you! Oh, you wanted to see the ends. Hmph.
There's all the ends. I don't even know if that's how it is supposed to be done, but it's working for me :)
A few more rows have been done. I'm now on row 55.
I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Australia (well, NSW at least), if you have a gambling problem you can be banned from the Casino.
I think I need an eBay ban.
Our latest eBay obsession is Trixie Belden books. Did anyone else read those when they were a kid? Em loves to read, and she reads quickly. She finished Harry Potter on Wednesday night. She is always asking for new books to read, so one day I was in the second hand bookstore and spotted a Trixie Belden book, so I grabbed it for her. She loved it. How much?
She doesn't usually cuddle Trixie close, but this was how we found her last night :) I've managed to get all but 7 books from the series off eBay so far. 2 more of them will be easy to find, but the last 5 that were printed must have been in short supply, becuase they are being sold for exorbitant amounts of money.
I nearly lost Twinkie yesterday. Couldn't find her anywhere, and was running around the house and yard calling her. Finally, she let me see where she was hiding.
New computers, fun for all the family :)

The hat is beautiful! Yes, I read Trixie Belden when I was a kid in the 70's. Loved those books!
Posted by: Juli at July 23, 2005 03:55 AMThe hat is gorgeous! Someone suggested on a board I go to when doing multi coloured knits in hats or on a scarf to line the wrong side with fleece fabric. It'll make it that much warmer and keep all the ends hidden.
I've never heard of those books, but I'm all for anything that will get a child to read. :)
Nothing cuter than a bunny in a box -- I'm glad you found her safe and sound. :)
Posted by: Samantha at July 23, 2005 07:10 AMThe hat is gorgeous! And hey, I have that exact same sock yarn! Made into 1 and 3/4 of a sock...since...uh...geez...last year this time...*ahem*. :)
Posted by: Lisa in Oregon at July 23, 2005 08:10 AMI only ever read one of the books. Which ones are you missing? I'll look in our local secondhand shops (not that we have many here!). Have you asked the library if any libraries here have them?
Posted by: Susan at July 23, 2005 02:17 PMOkay, I read a little more carefully! The last four books. I searched Libraries Australia, and even though the last three books are listed as being held, when I searched the respective catalogues they were not listed. So, no luck there! Looks like it's eBay or secondhand shops/garage sales. I didn't realise the books were "ghost written".

Psst! Twinkie, did you find any good electrical wires in that box?
Posted by: Simone at July 23, 2005 06:15 PMI LOVED Trixie Belden when I was a kid. Has Emily tried Nancy Drew, Hardy boys, Susan Sand, and uhm (trying to think what else I read when I was a kid).. I love the hat. Great work!

Posted by: celia at July 23, 2005 09:56 PMIsn't it wonderful when your children love to read? Em looks so sweet, curled up around her book, sleeping. :-)
Posted by: Kim at July 23, 2005 10:56 PMYour hat looks great--inside and out! If it wasn't so hot here I'd pick mine up and finish it.
Posted by: monica at July 24, 2005 09:35 AMHey Donna,
Why don't you come down to Wollongong snb next Saturday? 30 July 2-5 pm in the lobby bar of the Novotel Northbeach - I'll definitely be there as plenty of others. You'll find me easily - I'm the blonde doing all the talking!
No pressure but we love visitors!
Let me know which ones you are missing. My sister and I have boxes of them stored at Mum's from when we were kids. We have doubles of quite a few. I'd be happy to send them to you for your daughter if we have the one's you need.

I remember Trixie Belden!! They were old books at my grandma's. I think I only ever read four or five of the actual books and the other couple were compilations of really short mysteries, games, comics, etc.
