Thank you all for saying such nice things about the baby shawl. Still no sign of the sun in Sydney, so it hasn't been blocked yet. I was hoping to give it to DH's mum (who is having a flying visit this weekend) to take back, but I don't think it's going to happen.
I started my bag. Chunky cables after fingering weight lace feels funny :)
However, I didn't do a swatch. It calls for an 8mm needle. Somehow, I don't have an 8mm circ, but I figure that I always knit loose and have to go down a needle size anyway, so I just cast on with a 7mm.
Guess what? My gauge is off, I need an 8mm needle.
I don't knit with a lot of chunky yarns, so I don't often use larger needles. But I went ahead and ordered an 8mm Addi from STYK. As it's a bag, the gauge isn't important really, however, I'm nearly half way through and I hadn't even used half a ball of the Lambs Pride Bulky, and the bag is on the very small side. So I figured I'd prefer it a little larger anyway, so I'll wait until the new needle comes.
So what do I start now?
I'm sure I'll think of something!

That shawl is absolutely beautiful. What an amazing amount of work. It must feel really weird going from the shawl yarn to the Lamb's Pride in the big needles. Bit like holding tree trunks! Can't wait to see the bag finished. Must feel great to have a project finished....I'm starting to forget what that feels like. Take care.

The purple bag looks cozy...it also makes me think of a toe shoe bag...but thats more todo with a purple tutu.

Beautiful purple yarn! What kind of bag is it you are making?
P.S. - Tyler wants to thank you for visiting and commenting on his mom's blog. *snort* Thanks, Donna!
