The Zhivago lace cardi is finished. Here's a bad pic of it.
I'll try to get a better one. Once again, DH and I were arguing during the photo process. I'm always saying "Oh, just take the damn picture!" and that's usually right when he takes it. I think it fits better than it looks in the pic - and I think I might want to get a better pin to use as a closure - the pencil doesn't quite cut it!
The pattern called for 10 balls of Zhivago, but I only used 8. That's extremely rare for me, I usually use more than the pattern calls for.
What's next? Jill sent me some magazines, including the newest Interweave Knits. I love the Evelyn Clark scarf, "Trellis Scarf", so I whipped out the Cherry Tree Hill Possum Lace that I've been playing with, and I think this is exactly what the yarn wants to be.
The pattern isn't too bad, although the "Seven into Five" clusters can be fiddly. I find knitting lace so soothing. I love the counting, I love seeing the lace pattern emerge. I love the blocking at the end, and watching the heap of yarn become a beautiful lace item.
This is Twink letting us know she's ready for bed. If we haven't put her to bed when she's ready, she flops down right in front of the television, just to remind us that she's waiting. I love the two little paws just barely sticking out :)

My side: She says "I don't want to look silly", and then deliberately adopts a silly pose.
Posted by: anonymous at March 9, 2006 01:48 PMWow what a lovely cardi and the lace scarf too!!! Youve definitely inspired me to do the cardi and knit lovely lacey things!!
Posted by: MEL at March 9, 2006 01:51 PMyou are such a fast knitter!! the cardy is really nice!!!
Posted by: Michelle at March 9, 2006 02:42 PMLove the cardi. I did mine in the green and love it, but yes I used only 8 balls as well but mine is huge. I am always pulling it back on my shoulders, and while its probably meant to be a off the shoulder look, it drives me bloody batty hey. lol. I need to find a way to keep it up or I will have to reliquish it to someone that wants it *sob*.

Posted by: wool winder at March 9, 2006 11:18 PMCute cardi!
Posted by: lobstah at March 10, 2006 12:44 AMThe cardi is cute! and if I could wrap my mushy brain around it, I'd try the lace scarf....but it remains elusive at this time.....
Posted by: Cathy at March 10, 2006 02:09 AMThe cardi is very cute. I cannot wait to see the finished scarf - it promises to be beautiful!
Posted by: Jade at March 10, 2006 04:07 AMHi! Cute cardi as everyone else had agreed, but I also have to comment on how gorgeous Twink is! Awww, I could just die from the cuteness. My flat is about the size of a shoebox, so too small for a dog, and I don't especially like cats, so perhaps a rabbit could be an option?? Please give Twink an extra piece of lettuce from me.
Posted by: Larissa at March 10, 2006 08:07 AMI've got a couple of wooden shawl pins - maybe something like that would look nice? But I would worry about it poking me every time I moved, having it there! I've not actually used them yet - bought them last winter and then promptly lost them, and they only resurfaced last weekend during our major Autumn Clean that DH decided would be a good idea last weekend. (It hurt at the time but goodness, the things we found!) But I don't think long wooden things are meant to be worn right under the heart :)
Posted by: Judy Edmonds at March 10, 2006 09:16 AMThe cardi looks great on you njand I love the new scarf. I am so sorry to hear about Fuzzy.
Posted by: Wendy G at March 10, 2006 02:53 PMThe cardi looks great, I was looking at that lace pattern in interweave last night, I want to knit something lacy for my Mum for Christmas (I know it is early, but I like to plan ahead), I was ready about the 7 into 5, and thought I would give it abit more thought, but after seeing you doing it, I may just have another read and make it, after I finish stash reducing which I am knitting things for the Knitters guild May sale and exhibition in Kiama on 17 - 21 May.
Posted by: Anne at March 13, 2006 08:30 AMi have knit 2 zhivago wraps and both called for ten balls but i used 8. i also knit a short sleeved shrug that wanted 3 balls but i used 2. its a bizarre quirk of the yarn...
and its super hard to find the right clasp that wont split the yarn... i use one of those sticks for your hair.. you know for a chignon?
Great work! Love how Twink's way of telling you that she is sleepy.

I love the cardi! I wasn't sure what the closure was, but I definitely think a pencil is not your best choice!
Posted by: Chris at March 9, 2006 01:10 PMLove the lace and the bunny too.
