See this?
It's the Feather and Fan shawl that I finished last year, reblocking. Why?
Because this weekend I have to deliver it to the Sydney Royal Easter Show for judging. It didn't look as nice as it did when it was freshly blocked, so I reblocked it. Of course, I left it until the last minute, and today was gloomy and rainy. Even though it needs to be delivered this weekend, the show doesn't open until April 7, so I have to wait at least 2 weeks to find out if I do any good with it. A bit nerve wracking, that!
It takes an hour and a half and every pin I own to block, by the way.
I finished the back of the pink cardi. Unfortunately, I can't pin it out and show it off, because all the pins are in the shawl. Bad timing!
When I went to the dentist last week, I discovered that the toothache was from an impacted wisdom tooth that I have been trying very hard to ignore for a few years now. It was infected, so I was prescribed antibiotics, x-rayed, parted from a healthy wad of money, and now I have to go back tomorrow.
Wish me luck, I'm scared!
In addition, tomorrow is Emily's 13th birthday. As the Birthday Girl, she gets to choose our dinner destination. She's chosen a steak house. Who wants to bet I won't be eating steak?
And finally, Twinkie.
It's not a very good picture, because she refused to sit still. However, she is eating gum leaves. Maybe she thinks she's a koala :)

Lovely shawl - it's inspired me to pick mine up again. Good luck with the tooth!
Posted by: Mary at March 23, 2006 08:42 PMHappy birthday Em!!!
Your shawl will do well, just deliver it and knit lots to distract yourself. Ok so that won't stop you worrying but it will give you a nice cardy :)
Posted by: Carol at March 23, 2006 08:45 PMGood luck with the dentist. Wisdom teeth are best out, I believe, if they are causing problems. I had mine out when I was 19 because they were all impacted and ulcerated and horrible things and had no ill effects afterwards at all.
Happy birthday to Emily!!
Posted by: Judy Edmonds at March 23, 2006 09:33 PMI guess I need to round up all my pins and block my blue Feather and Fan. Yours is stunning!

Posted by: Jade at March 23, 2006 11:22 PMYour shawl is beautiful and good luck in the judging. Love the pink cardi and please tell Em Happy Birthday.
Posted by: Wendy G at March 23, 2006 11:32 PMI love the shawl! I love the tutu. Twinkie is sooo cute. And the cardigan will look stunning once blocked. Glad to hear you are safe and sound.
Posted by: Chris at March 23, 2006 11:36 PMI'm glad you're entering the shawl. If it doesn't win something, I'll be surprised! I went to the Easter Show site and was fascinated by the Showbags. I've never heard of this before. It must be hugely popular since there are 300 to choose from.
Posted by: wool winder at March 24, 2006 12:18 AMHey - that shawl is awesome. Is the pattern from A Gathering of Lace? Can you tell me where you got it? I love it.
And I'll be thinking happy tooth thoughts for you.

I think you'll do fine with your feather and fan shawl. It's gorgeous!
Good luck on the wisdom tooth! I get to go in again next week for another drilling and filling session. Hooray? So next week, I'll be joining you for the liquid meals....

Could I ask how wide the Feather and Fan shawl across? I have knitted a round shawl but find it too small at 32"...also, how does one wear it?
Happy birthday to Emily too!
Oh my goodness! That's amazing. I'm sure you'll do really well.
Happpy birthday to Em as well.

Happy Birthday to Em! 13! Wow, she sure is growing up, eh?
Good luck with the shawl. I'm sure the judges will love it. How could they not?
Sorry to hear about your wisdom tooth. I have one that I have been ignoring too. It isn't painful (knock on wood) but it did break through my gum ... I'm too chicken to go have it looked at. No, you might not be eating steak, but you can eat lots of ice cream. :)
Posted by: Samantha at March 24, 2006 11:31 PMthat might be the most beautiful shawl i've ever seen.

Happy Birthday Em - you're now a Teenager!
Good luck with the wisdom tooth. I had to have mine removed as they were growing very long & my mouth was constantly blistered - it took seconds to get them out & I didn't even realise that the dentist had done it. Don't worry. It was worth it & I don't have any pain now. I only had them in the top jaw so they had nothing but my jaw to rip against :(
