Dance costume. Not nearly done.

More dance sewing. Kinda nearly done.

Dance costume. Sewing complete, decorating and rhinestoning to be done. But there is a problem. The lycra fabric stinks to high heaven. I've soaked it to no avail. Any tips?

How about some Febreze and an airing in the nice (?) autumn winds I've been getting ?

Our mother cat sleeps like Twinkie. On her back with all paws in the air. Look cute. Apparently it's a sign of feeling secure, free from fear of attack. Seems to me,Twinkie leds a fairly secure life, except for when she scratches. I hope yours are all healed now.

What does it smell of? How about hanging outside on the line for a day or two?

My Airedales sleep on their backs with legs in the air - a sign of a contented trusting animal.

Socks are looking great! How about a clothespin for the node?

Seriously lairy socks!!! What does the lycra stink of? Good remedy for lots of smells is Fresh Air, ie 2 days in a howling gale on the line, or, if it's in a washable state, apple-flavoured fabric softener in the final rinse tends to take away pongs without leaving a different unpleasant smell. Alternative solution - give the lycra to someone else to sew! Hope the rabbit damage is healing - one son had a pet rabbit a while back - it was behind the door when the brains were being handed out. I have a lot of recipes for rabbit, but it died before it got fat enough to eat, LOL.
BTW, found some cheap Trekking XXL at http://www.astridsdutchobsessions.com/Scripts/default.asp
Knitting socks is infinitely preferable to sewing dance gear!!

yummy yummy socks, they are just gorgeous!
I pity you, with all of that sewing poor thing, maybe try putting the lycra outfit in a box with an bowl of baking soda for a day or two.

Those. socks. are. to. die. for. I love them!!! And boy, I admire a Mum who sews dance costumes. Thankfully my Lil Purl tried dancing and hated it. Still got the Little Madam to go. Perhaps the Dance Gods will curse me yet! VCute bunny

I'm joining the ranks of those swooning over the socks. I love them! And Twinkie is too adorable. I also have a cat that does that -- good to know it's a sign of security.

Your socks look great. I am thinking of knitting some more later on too. Maybe you should think of a lavender wash or something to get rid of the smell for Em's costume.

Yes, the socks are great, you were worried about the dyring but it couldn't have turned out better. I love the bunny. I had a bunny called Rupert when I was little ( we had little naming imagination too, obviously!!!)

Socks looks pretty and so do the almost-finished white dance costume. Did Em's dance teacher asked for your help after seeing the fab purple tutu? I think airing it for a long time is the safest choice, esp if you've already got the rhinestones and other bits and pieces attached...Twinkie is so adorable.

Looks like a costume factory at your house! The white one is very pretty. I can't imagine that it's very easy to sew on stretchy fabric, especially smelly stretchy fabric. I hope you can get the stink out.

I am so very impressed with your costume making skills. Where did you learn to do that? We had a fitting for the recital costume my oldest daughter's dance school forgot to order this evening and I am afraid she is going to look different from everyone else. I wish I knew how to make costumes like that. I see many many dance outfits in my future.
