Super quick post.
The two missing Tasmanian miners have been found alive. They haven't been brought out yet, I'm hearing reports that it could take up to two days, but they are alive. I feel so sorry for the family of the miner who was killed in the accident, but I'm so happy that the others have been found.
I think the reason my mojo is missing is because the pink cardi has cursed me.
So I pulled it out on Saturday night, and started the crochet edgings.
Look! Crochet!
Okay, it's only two rows of double crochet (single crochet to you Americans), but it's as much crochet as I'll ever do.
Stitch n Bitch was on Saturday, and all my mojo could cover was a scarf. I'm sure the cardi isn't going to let me do anything else unil it is done, anyway.
So I pulled out some Noro Cash iroha from the Stash, and started a scarf, because you can't go to Stitch n Bitch, and not stitch. Well, you need to at least look like you're stitching.
Next I'm planning beaded socks. Stay tuned.

Yeah!! On all of your progress as well as the trapped miners. Thank you for the update on that. DD and I perused your blog archives last night. She was very interested in the Twinky photos and that Em is a dancer. We had to find Australia on the map, and then the time difference. It was a cool learning experience for her.

Posted by: Donni at May 1, 2006 12:34 PMBeaconsfield is about 35 minutes up the road from me, we are all cautiously happy...waiting till they're actually out before we give a sigh of relief. We want to mainland media circus to go home!!!
That evil Pink Cardigan!! Love the green scarf, sooooo nice!!!!!
Yes as Cindy mentioned above Beaconsfield is not far from us in Launceston and it is a HUGE relief that they are alive. The waiting will be a terribly tense time for the families. Yesterday St Kilda and Fremantle played football here and the 10yo son of the miner who was killed ran out onto the field with the St Kilda players and stood with them in a minute silence for his father and the then unfound miners, if that didn't tug at a persons heart, nothing would.
Some knits are sent to try us, looking good though, especially with the crochet. That is the extent of my crocheting ability too :(
Posted by: Sharon at May 1, 2006 03:35 PMI confess that when we heard the news dh and I both thought of the awful stuff up in the US not so long ago. The one where they said the miners were alive, oops no they weren't. So we were very relieved to hear that verbal contact had been made. Did you see any of channel 9's coverage? Crikey it was awful! Media Watch is going to have a field day with the over the top coverage. Mind boggles at the number of "exclusive stories" that are going to fill the magazines. But hey, it's taken the heat off the government with regards to the soldier's death in Iraq.
Pink cardi looks nice. I'm with you on the crochet. Ick ick ick - I think I'd rather clean toilets than crochet.
Posted by: Susan at May 1, 2006 04:09 PMWho said you couldn't crochet, that edge looks very acceptable.
Whenever I go to a snb I hardly end up knitting a stitch, too busy rubber necking & gas bagging ;o)
Your cardi does look nice so the hard efforts you are putting in does count.
Posted by: Leeanne at May 1, 2006 08:37 PMi am glad there is some good news on the miners and hope they have a successful rescue.
and thank you so much for the bag. it is beautiful.
Posted by: marti at May 2, 2006 01:38 AMWhat a relief! I'm so happy those miners have been found alive. Hooray! Hopefully they will have a safe trip out of the mine and be reunited with their families asap. :)
Hooray for you! I knew you could do the crochet edging; and it looks great too. Nice and even. :) I love the colour of that scarf.
Posted by: Samantha at May 3, 2006 07:16 AMAren't you glad that your cardigan is finally finished. It looks great. I love your scarf too, especially the color. Green is my favourite. Hope to see your next project. By the way did you ever post a finished pic of Emily's mittens that you made.

Hi Donna, that's good news for the miners & families! The green Noro yarn is wonderful. I love that color! My favourite colores are orange and green. I did some knitting with Noro Iro (or whatever) but my LYS only carried dark multi colores. I wish they had that green. I hope you can get the pink thing done soon, so you will enjoy doing something else more. (I can't have more than 3 projects going at one time. Makes me nervous, so I limit myself but in the head I'm planning other projects already! ;o)
