My Blog

June 04, 2006

Okay, it's time for us to have a little talk about our relationship.
Yes, I'm talking to you. All of you. Well, the knitters. I can only think of 2 non-knitters who read this blog, anyway.
This has to stop. I mean it.
All of you, constantly tempting me with your works in progress, finished items and planned projects.
It seems that every day I read all the blogs I subscribe to, and find at least one more item to add to my "To Do" list, or a new yarn to yearn for.
My stash is out of control. I have a million projects I want to start, and I want to start them all now. And every time I start making noise about starting something new, my family wants to know if I'm going to start one of the projects I've promised for them.
I have good intentions every time I buy new yarn, really I do. I swear I'll knit it straight away, and not stash it. I promise myself every day that I won't buy any new yarn until I knit at least 3 projects. Okay, maybe two. At least one.
I am weak!!
I cast on a new project and immediately start thinking about what I can start next. I have sock yarn for about 60 pairs of socks. I have laceweight for at least nine ten projects that I can think of just off the top of my head. I have yarn for sweaters, for hats, for scarves. For gifts, for me, for my family. And I love it all.
And still you tempt me.
And it isn't like I'm not in love with any of the stuff I already own. I love it all. Immensely. I want to knit it all. Now.
And still I keep seeing things that I must have.
I don't have too much yarn. I have too little time.
Please stop. I can't take anymore.
Really.

(Not really!)

Addictions are so addictive, aren't they?

Well thank you, that's exactly how I feel. It's deliciously aweful, isn't it? ;o)

You need to join Stashalong, it will help. Otherwise make a big list of what to knit next and try to keep to it for atleast 4 weeks.
Be Strong Donna.

... so there's somthing wrong with that!

I think you are quite normal, don't worry, be happy.. it's not fattening, absolutely no calories at all.

Just enjoy - you are not alone!

Hehe...I have to laugh because it's so true! My favorite blogs are my biggest enablers. That, coupled with the fact that I love to buy yarn, makes my debit card cry.

Sure, there are weird side effects, but knitting must be one of the least harnful addictions!!! Sniffing wool will just make you sneeze and the needles are always squeaky clean!!! You are just having a little crisis, buy some wool to cheer yourself up!!!

I know how it all goes just a bit of this then maybe some of that well now it has moved in my bed. I think I need someone to put me down and knit some more than the normal but guess what I think I want to buy more sock yarn. Bendigo is my killer everytime there is an order I order more to make the $30 and have just 2 more balls for a vest for me and none have been done. Dont show me a yarn sale keep me well away. Then the alpaca farms say here is some wool to work with so it gets piled again.

I feel your pain.

Terrible isn't it but oh what fun!!!

I guess that the problem all knitters (who goes online) face... I actually spend more time than knitting! The best way is to buy yarn only when you want to knit it, instead of stashing (difficult. Yea.)

Oddly enough, us 'non-knitters' do suffer from the same affliction - just substitute fabric for yarn - heh.

If you can get this to work then please tell me!

Posted by: monica at June 7, 2006 08:19 AM

This would be funny if it weren't so frightenly TRUE - well, okay...it's actually still funny!

I read this post right after copying the pattern for a lace baby hat I saw on one of my daily blog crawls then came here for a good laugh!
