Never whine about the stash.
It'll get you back.
I was hunting through one of my nice, new, heavy timber stash boxes, and the lid crashed down on my head. The corner of support post hit me square in the middle of head.
Ouch. It really hurt.
I went to the doctor yesterday, and he sent me off for a CT scan straight away, because I has a splitting headache and was feeling nauseous and dizzy.
The good news is that I have a brain and it's not bleeding. It's just a minor concussion, and I do feel a bit better today.
Today was the first time I knit since Sunday, so I don't have much to report. But I did finish the body of the Nundle sweater.
Do you see what I see? A shitload of ends waiting to be woven in!
I'll use them to seam the sides, but they'll still need to be woven in. The pattern called for the front and back to be knit seperately, (including the collar) then cast off and seamed in the shoulder. Seeing as I was knitting them together anyway, I decided to go with a three needle bind off for the shoulder seams, leaving the collar stitches live, then knit the collar in the round.
If I'd thought further in advance, I would've knit the whole thing in the round, eliminating side seams entirely, but I'm the queen of hindsight. I'm happy with the shoulder seams and collar though.
Now I just need to knit the sleeves and seam it all up. The sleeves have been started, but not much more than that.

Posted by: the stripey tiger at June 7, 2006 10:11 PMIt's great - what yarn have you used?
Never whine about your stash (I've been reducing mine by getting rid of yarn that I'll never use) - imagine what it'd be like if you didn't have one :(
Posted by: blueadt at June 7, 2006 10:48 PMmmm plan 1 dont use hard objects to store stash in ill get either a cabinet or have hanging soft bags storage.
Posted by: tianne at June 7, 2006 11:14 PMGlad you are ok but I know it must have been scary. The sweater is looking good.
Posted by: Wendy G at June 7, 2006 11:35 PMTime to knit up the stash so it won't hurt you anymore. Either that or move it to the floor. Glad you're okay.
Posted by: wool winder at June 7, 2006 11:46 PMI love the sweater, bummer about all the ends tho. :(
( glad your heads ok too!)
This bunny shot is so cute, adorable!!! I want to cuddle him/her? Good thinking on the shoulder and collar though. It's way better than sewing. ;o)
Posted by: Monika at June 8, 2006 02:42 AMWow, revenge of the stash! I'm glad your head wasn't damaged too badly. Another danger of the stash - too much yarn = too heavy of a box. The answer must be to split it into smaller boxes!
I hate weaving in ends....can't you just leave them on the side after seaming? Who's going to know? You're not planning on wearing that sweater inside out, right? Just tie a little knot at the end of each one. Yes, I'm feeling that lazy!
Posted by: Evelyn at June 8, 2006 04:05 AMYikes! Sorry about the head injury. I'll have to remember that the next time I whine about stash too. Twinkie is so cute!!!
Posted by: monica at June 8, 2006 04:21 AMOh your achin' head!! I am so sorry to hear about the stashbox mishap. The sweater is looking good, I love the colors in it. And Twinkie, well what can I say about Twinkie, he's just so cute I could cuddle him, except I don't want to be scratched!!

Ouch on both counts, the head and those ends!! It looks lovely though, I agree with Evelyns comment, who would know, other than you???
Posted by: Sharon at June 8, 2006 01:07 PMHi Donna, guess what I just found. Your comments hidden deep in blogger land! I would have responded if I had known. So really sorry about that. And yes, I had to absolutly forbid my son to wind each and every skein into a ball all at once. ;o) (I want to do it myself.)
Posted by: Monika at June 8, 2006 01:29 PMI love the colours of the Nundle jumper!
