Saturday Sky!

100_7805.JPG

Yes, it's winter in Sydney, and this is the second absolutely beautiful Saturday in a row. Just so you know I'm not throwing up random blue squares, here's some sky with a bit af tree.

Twinkie has been playing in the sun.

And there's been some knitting.
After quite a bit of nagging, Em finally got me to teach her how to knit in the round, using DPNS.

She's knitting a beret for her aktraditions doll, Imogen. And doing a pretty good job! She's also had to learn "m1" increases.

And we've had a dance comp for the past two days, and we're back again this afternoon and tomorrow. A pretty goopd haul so far, 3 first places, 3 second places, a third place, and a highly commended or two. And a nomination for the scholarship section tomorrow.
I need something brainless, and easy to pick up and put down when I'm at these things, so I started a scarf. I'm using Patons "Jet", a wool/alpaca blend that I'm really enjoying.
I decided on an easy pattern, but I think it's knitting up nicely.

Here's a closeup of the stitch pattern.

I wonder if I can finish it today or tomorrow?

Perhaps Em can make her own socks and free up your time for something else. Not more dance costumes. LOL

I rather like the Patons Jet. I made a Muse hat from Katts Creative Corner (Tasmania) in the acid green and it looked great and have just finished a pinwheel jacket from Elann in dusky pink for granddaughter, just 4. Picture on blog. Jet is soft, doesn't split, easy to knit and looks good. son who is picky aslo says it smells fine by him.

I'm now educating #2 son that gentle handwash means just that. DIL is in hospital with depression and we are all minding children, helping out etc as there are days when he just has to work.

Very pretty stitch pattern on the scarf. Can you share what it is or would that be violating copyright laws?

Look at Em go! I think knitting on dpns is one of the most useful techniques to learn in knitting. She can knit anything now!

Congratulations to Em! Great job!!! (on both the dance and mastering dpns).

Beautiful sky, and scarf. I love that colorway -- it looks so bright and cheery!

Your scarf is coming up nicely and good on Em for starting on the DPNs!
I love knitting with Jet. It is quick and the results are yummy!
(Your glove looks great too, even with all the ends...)

Emily is so good with her knitting. I love those dolls too. I have been to their shop, where they have lots of felted items and beautifully knit ones too. I love your scarf, and the colorway too. I have seen it in person. Is it a bit itchy to knit with or nice and soft. I like a lot of yarns, but a lot seem to irritate my neck, so as far as knits for me go I do make a lot.
