Stop the world, I want to get off.
Or at least slow down. What happened to my weekend? For that matter, it's August 14th. How? What happened to my year?
Busy, busy, but with beautiful weather. Saturday sky.
Saturday afternoon, we were out and about, and saw a blimp which would have been great Saturday Sky fodder, but I didn't have the silly camera with me. What is with that? I have these cameras, but I always leave them at home.
I've been doing a little bit on Em's hat. Ene's scarf is no good for homework time or dance practice time, so that time has been allocated to the hat.
On Saturday morning, it looked like this.
I had done the main part of the hat, and was up to the crown shaping.
On Saturday afternoon, it looked like this.
Remember my beef about Creative Knitting and their lack of proper gauge information? Well, I have no idea if my gauge was off, but the hat was definitely too small for Em's head, so I ripped it out and started over with bigger needles. Yay, Aussie Creative Knitting.
What else? I finally got around to ironing the wax off the carpet.
I owe you all a kiss. It worked like a dream.

It took ages, and a great deal of brown paper, but it's all gone.
As you may have gathered, I have a bit of a thing for nice candles.
Here is my current favourite.
"Harmony" from Dusk. It's a blend of Geranium and Lavender essential oils, and I love it.
Here is Twinkie, enjoying the warmer weather with her tail in the air.
I think she got a bit embarrassed. As soon as I took the picture, she put her butt down and turned her back on me!

Oh, Ene's scarf is looking great. I even got to talk to the designer this weekend. I took her Estonian Lace class last year at Stitches.
Posted by: Chris at August 15, 2006 02:55 AMCan I get off at your stop, this year is certainly going way to quick and by the weather lately I am thinking (not out loudly mind you) that our winter is not going to be around for much longer. What is with this spring weather lately - like hello 22 degrees, what is that.
Posted by: Annie at August 15, 2006 12:06 PMYes...I agree...I have been wondering lately where our summer & your winter have gone. I apologize for laughing at your "yay Aussie Creative Knitting" comment...some magazines' patterns should come with a warning level. Instead of those "beginner" "intermediate" type levels, they should have "pleasant to work on" "challenging, but you'll forget the pain when you're done" and "if you really want to self-inflict torture." LOL I hope that this time the gauge works out OK!!
Glad you were able to rescue the carpet. Candles are wonderful, aren't they?
Posted by: Debby at August 16, 2006 08:26 AMmmm DUSK, love that shop.... I have every CK printed, but am yet to knit a thing from a single one, maybe the universe is trying to spare me pain? oh hang on, I knited the socks, the "sock stripped bare" but not really a pattern, more a how to, does that count?
thanks for the Twinkie induced giggle!
OMG I see a knitted tail cosy for Twinkie!
Posted by: monica at August 16, 2006 04:13 PMThat bunny is just too darn adorable.
Posted by: jessie at August 16, 2006 09:12 PMOh you tease! I love candles too & they only ship to Australian addresses! :) Glad the carpet is ok. I've had to do that, too!
Posted by: Donna S. at August 17, 2006 06:03 AMMy god ,your Twinkie is a verrrrry big bunny, makes my girl a bubby, and she loves her nose stroked to the point she settles down and goes to sleep/mesmerised(between eating the lounge)........
I am waiting on a shipment of cotton from a shop in America, I'm curious how long it will take to get here by air!
glad the carpet is better after a good treatment. Twinkie looks like a doorstop sitting like that.
