What cheeses me off.
Breaking one of my very expensive Rosewood DPNS.
Dammit.

Bummer about the broken needle,
the sock is looking good,
the colour of the wool is gorgeous.
Eek!:(
On the positive side though, the sock is looking fabulous -- the beads are adding a lovely touch of sparkle, and the yarn is working really well with the stitch pattern. Is this a sock you're designing yourself?
What brand? One of my expensive rosewood needles broke too. It was really my own fault, but I found that the rosewood needles weren't as strong as my favorite birch or my bamboo. I haven't bought anymore since.
Posted by: wool winder at October 17, 2006 12:34 AMwhat a pain now i do know what I hate wooden needles I think Ill stick to my metal ones
Posted by: Tianne at October 17, 2006 12:35 AMwow.. bummer on the needle... but on the plus side the sock is looking AWSOME! is it your own pattern? will you share?
OH man that really STINKS! i'm sure you're really upset!
Posted by: allena at October 17, 2006 05:08 AMOh no!!
Posted by: Samantha at October 17, 2006 08:02 AMIt's the conundrum of every rosewood owning knitter. Use them, enjoying every minute of their luxury but sure as heck breaking at least one. Or look at them from afar.
LOVE your sock. And I love my rosewoods, even though they cheesed me off too!
:)
take this in the nicest way....I am so glad that someone else breaks there nice socks needles, and not just me.
Posted by: Annie at October 17, 2006 09:51 AMHow annoying is that when it happens. Well at least buying another set, you'll have spares if (fingers crossed you dont) any more break. Love the sock too by the way.
Posted by: Sue at October 17, 2006 10:27 AMOh no! Would they send you a replacement?
Posted by: claudine at October 17, 2006 12:50 PMGuess you didn't rub Twinkie's nose enough! The sock is pretty, though.
Posted by: Janet at October 17, 2006 02:00 PMOoops. Nice sock though (kinda makes up for it).
Posted by: NORA at October 17, 2006 06:27 PMSock good. Needle bad. I broke one of my casein needles the other day. It should be against the laws of knitting.
Posted by: 2paw at October 17, 2006 06:33 PMNot good but the sock are nice as Nora says. How did it happen anyway? Was this the first time you used them or have you at least had some good use out of them. Not that that's any kind of compensation.
A bit late I know but I love the Grape Hyacinth Scarf the colours in it are sensational. Em does a great job modelling it, looks lovely on her. And glad to see you are back onto Icarus. I need to motivate myself back onto the Shetland Tea Shawl.
What size are they ? I broke two of mine - filed down the breaks and kept going on the first one, but got disheartened after the second. Maybe I can send you my "spares" if they are the same size :)
Posted by: Lara at October 17, 2006 07:09 PMOuch. I stay away from wooden/bamboo needles for the smaller needles for that reason.. At least it didn't break in the middle.. Maybe the longer portion of the broken needle can be rescued with a little sanding.. Gorgeous sock, btw. =)
Posted by: kessa at October 18, 2006 12:14 AMUgh! That really sucks! I belive that you can purchase just one needle.. What yarn is that, it's gorgeous! sO IS THE DESIGN!
Posted by: Michelle at October 18, 2006 01:15 AMYikes!! When I saw your picture I felt this small twinge in my chest.
Posted by: monica at October 18, 2006 06:19 AMMan, that totally bites! I hope your stitches didn't jump off like so many lemmings!
Posted by: La at October 18, 2006 10:41 AMoh that would so piss me off!!!! I feel your pain!
