Saturday sky. Grey, wet and generally crappy.
A pretty good sky for my mood!
I'm having a bad week.
David got the sack on Thursday.
This actually isn't really a bad thing as some of you are well aware.
Back in August he left his job of 5 years, because he was underpaid and underappreciated. He started at a new job, where the pay was much better, and it appeared to be a place where his skills would be appreciated and utilised.
It wasn't. He disliked his co-workers, was managed by a moron, and was even more miserable than he had been in his old job.
But his old job had realised how much they needed him, and he has been in negotiations to go back there. Problem was, he would have to give four weeks notice at his new job, and his old emplyers were anxious to have him back ASAP.
So he did his best to get sacked, and he succeeded.
So, it's not really bad news. His old employer is now being a jerk about a few key points in his contract, but it'll work out. And ultimately, at some point next year he will be going to work for a client of this employer, which is what he really wants to do, so the future looks rosy.
Doesn't stop me stressing out, but that's my nature.
Dress rehearsals for the concert begin tomorrow, and run for most of the week. Most of the sewing is now done, but this year I've really pushed the time limit. I still have 3 small jobs to get done tomorrow, but everyone will be dressed at the rehearsal.
Now I'll start to lose sleep over the idea that there'll be problems with all the costumes and they'll all come back for adjustments. I have this concern every year, and I always get a few back, but nothing major. Yet!
Hopefully, by Friday, everything will be over, I'll be reassured, David will be settled into his new/old job and the knitting can recommence in earnest.
Twinkie is thinking "Bring on Friday, then I'll come out!"
Me too!

I'm glad things worked out for David, sometimes they need a eye opener, to realize what they lost!
Will we get to see a pic of all the costumes?
I was wondering about the job lately, I'm glad things are starting to turn around a bit. Come on Friday!! I'm ready for it too, we have to clean out grandma's room, take an all day field trip to Seattle, have a memorial service, possibly send my mom down to Los Angeles area for the burial, and then we can crash! Take care of yourself this week, I will be thinking of you.
Posted by: Tammy at November 6, 2006 02:26 AMI hope the job stuff works out soon! Twinkie looks adorable as usual.
Posted by: Nanette at November 6, 2006 04:28 AMWhew! Had me worried there for a mintue. I thought we might have to do a marathon to raise money for your stash future. Can't have a knitter be destitute with yarn to be bought!
Good luck to Em, I know she will shine.
Come out Twinkie!
Friday yes please and next weekend is mine for knitting and whatever else I want to do. Hooray for small mercies. now chain yourself to the machine and get it all finished.
Posted by: metal and knit at November 6, 2006 03:33 PMPeople never realise what they have until its not there anymore do they. I hope David's old/new job fits the bill for now, until he can start another one. I hope the costumes all fit perfectly too, and the weather up your way sounds as though it is similar to ours, grey and wet one day, and warm and sunny another.
Posted by: Sue at November 6, 2006 07:08 PMHope everything turns out fine. Sometimes I wonder if it is (kinda) fun seeing how far to push the limits.. Think you'll definitely be able to meet the dealine and everything.. You're really good with the costumes, IMHO. Oh, and I'm sure Em will do well too but good luck to her anyway. =)
Posted by: kessa at November 6, 2006 09:24 PMWe are going through some job stress too right now, so I can sympathize. It's hard having things up in the air, even though you know they will work out all right...eventually. This means we're going to be doing lots of therapy knitting for keeping stress down, right?!
Best wishes to Em and to you with the costumes, but I know they'll be fine. Carrots to Twinkie too!
Posted by: Debby at November 7, 2006 08:36 AMall the best to David as regards his job situation. I'm sure that everything will turn out just fine.
Take care of yourselves during this stressful time

So he ended up using the See you next Tuesday phrase then did he?
Posted by: Ailsa at November 5, 2006 10:28 PMGotta get the sack at least once in your life to appreciate having a job I reckon.
It'll be fine, try not to worry.
