Saturday!
Boring, blue. But mighty nice!
Here's one I prepared earlier.
Thursday sky, much prettier.
The socks, they are not done. All that remains is to graft the toe of sock number 2, but I'm lazy, what can I say? Kitchener has always been my least favourite part of sock knitting!
So, Saturday. I've been knitting.
4.5sts an inch seems to go so much quicker than lace or sock weight, doesn't it? My row gauge is off (Alert the media!), so I find myself tugging at my knitting, trying to stretch it into submission. Not quite sure if it's working yet, I'll keep you updated.
This is the first time I've knit with All Seasons Cotton. It's okay, I guess. It's not grabbing me a whole lot. I'm not a fan of cotton, and it's definitely an improvement on cotton.
Can I be sacreligious and say that it really seems much of a muchness as Lion Brand Cotton Ease? I used cotton Ease earlier this year to make a zip jacket (still zipless!!). The compostion is similar, the weight is similar. Similar is a pretty good word, I'd say.
The Rowan does have a nice velvety-ness that the Lion Brand lacked.
I like it, don't get me wrong. It hasn't grabbed me the way the Kid Classic I used did, that's all.
Being a Saturday, and the right time of year, Em danced at a fete today.
No, that's not her hair. I'm a cheat, and use a hairpiece.
When I downloaded the pictures off the camera tonight, I discovered she'd been taking self portraits after she got home. She probably didn't intend it for the blog, but it was just too tempting.
Some day some lucky boy is going to have that coming at him.
God help us all!

Love the costumes and I totally agree with Tianne on the coverage factor. Skimpiness is not needed on kids.
Love the embarrass the child factor too:P now the thing is, what is she going to do to get you back???
Posted by: Carol at November 19, 2006 08:06 AMOh, great costumes and dancing Em!! LOVE the green costume best of course. Little girls in my class did Higland and there were hair pieces bigger than them!! Nans knitted the socks to match their costumes too!! Excellent self portrait.
I'm not a big lover of cotton but I love the Bendigo Harmony!!
Lol.. The last pic cracks me up. Em looks much more mature in the last dance pic. Too bad I don't get to see her dance. I've a feeling she's really good at it... And that WIP.. Gosh you're one fast knitter. =D
Posted by: kessa at November 19, 2006 09:34 PMI agree that ASC is much of a muchness as the CE. There. Now two people have said it ;) My yarn for the lace jumper should be here by Wednesday... So far, it's you me and Terri for our own kinda KAL
Your Saturday sky and Thursday sky are both beautiful ... and your daughter, not only is she talented, but she is drop dead gorgeous. I hope you have a bat handy to beat all the boys away.
Posted by: Samantha at November 19, 2006 11:43 PMI just finished a piece at 4 stitches to the inch. I thought the same thing - "wow, it flies when you are knitting on something larger than US2's"
Now for the important question. Are you sleeping with one eye open to avoid Em's retaliation? ;)
Posted by: jae at November 20, 2006 04:54 AMLooks like she is having a blast!
I made a pair of mittens in an HOUR with chunky yarn. A WHOLE PAIR. Of course, I want to make another pair for myself, and the pattern calls for sock yarn and size 0 needles.
Sigh.
package yet (foot tapping?)
Posted by: Cece at November 21, 2006 04:04 AMI hope you and Em don't take this the wrong way but when I look at Em's eyelashes and her lips I think ostrich! A very pretty ostrich! :)

I know how lazy we all can be as I have a few things that will probably all be knocked over in a weekend if I was a good girl and worked on them. I must say I love Em's Costumes the dancing troupes I see round our area have the skimpiest outfits and even on the tiny tots a strin Bikini would cover more on them. Excellent for the dance school to have such tasteful but vibrant outfits.
