I finished the Zigzag socks!
Sorry for the crappy pictures. David has found a box, and we're going to build a lightbox ala Ailsa.
The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in "Somerset" and was a lovely gift from Lindy.
As soon as I get a decent picture, I'll fix up the pdf and upload the pattern.
A little more work has been done on the Lace Panel Sweater, too.
True to form, I'm not even halfway through this sweater, and I've found a new obsession.
It's the Krista Tee from White Lies Designs.
Isn't it gorgeous? I have resisted ordering it so far, though.
I'm trying to be strong. In order not to just add willy nilly to the stash, I'm going to sit and think on this top for awhile. I love it, really. But I'm going to work on the lace panel sweater, and when I'm nearly done with it, then I'll order the Krista kit.
Who thinks I won't last? (I'm raising my own hand here! ;)
However, look what I did buy!
I'm sorry he's sideways! I can't work out how to turn it right side up.
He's a 3 feet tall singing and dancing polar bear, and I love him! I've been eyeing him off for a few weeks, and when we were at the store on the weekend, there was only one left. Really, I'm surprised held out that long. He has four different songs, and David claims he's sick of them all already.
I'm not! He's the closest thing I'll ever get to a real polar bear.
Twinkie hasn't really been intoduced to him yet, but if he loses a toe, she's in big trouble.
And in the most recent news, my mum fell over down the street yesterday. She's grazed her face and shoulder, given herself a black eye, cracked two bones in her hand, and cut open a finger. She's in a half cast right now, so this morning I went up to do her dishes ad hang her washing, but she claims she can manage just fine. I did do few little jobs for her, though.
You think she'd be taking full advantage of the situation and putting us kids to work - payback for all those years she had to do it for us!
As you can see from this picture, it's not exactly a hardship going up to help out mum.
The red circle is my house, and the blue one is mum's. It's maybe 250 metres away!

Love the socks!
I'd join you and raise my hand but I've eyed that pattern too and so far have done a good job of resisting.
Sorry to hear about your mum. It sounds painful but it sounds like she's not doing too bad.
Sorry to hear about your mum, hope she recovers quickly. I live near my parents too and I will need to go and help my mum when she has her op on her right shoulder. She tore a muscle away from the bone and getting keyhole surgery on the 4th December to fix it.
I love the socks, you did a great job as per. The top is lovely, and I am putting up my hand to say that you don't last. Em looks gorgeous, did she find out about her self portrait you put up.
Posted by: Helen at November 21, 2006 03:52 PMSorry I forgot to mention that the picture of the polar bear didn't work.
Posted by: Helen at November 21, 2006 05:02 PMhope your mum will be back on her feet soon...i love your socks - it looks so feminine and must be soft since it's done up in lorna's laces! and i love your polar bear - i didn't expect him to have such a deep voice! as always, em is so pretty and the 'kissy' shot is so cute!
Posted by: debbie at November 21, 2006 05:11 PMSorry to hear about your mum - you are lucky you live close by and can help out (she should take advantage of you, shouldn't she!).
Socks look great, love that pattern. I also love the Krista tee - I think I'll be buying that one day but I'll bet you'll crack before I do!!! (I hope so anyway!)
Hope mum enjoys the attention and feels better soon.
the socks are yummy, I'm so glad that you enjoyed the LL.
Love the polar bear.
I love reading your blog. Living in cold Scotland I love looking at the Saturday skies. You are so lucky to live so close to your Mum. Despite her protests you should look after her as best you can. I'm sure she will be well soon with your love and attention.
Keep up the good work with the blog and I'd guard your polar bear slavishly from Twinkie.!!
I have to admidt I have been eyeing off the polar bear too but budget does not allow for it. I even have another one called buck who is double the price in my ideas but who knows I might get them on sale someday.
Posted by: Tianne at November 21, 2006 09:32 PMI've no idea how the FOs keep coming, but I definitely enjoy looking at them! My guess is that you will be able to restrain from Krista until you finish the sweater.. (unless something crops up) And that is some cool polar bear! (pun intended) Sounds like your mom had quite a fall.. Hope she gets well soon!
Posted by: kessa at November 22, 2006 12:57 AMWishing a speedy recovery to your mum! I've had a nasty case of startitis lately, too, but my time is so limited it's pathetic. I'm sneaking some time while the short person is asleep for this! But I have a feeling I might be making those socks soon....I've got a few sock yarns to choose from on it, including a Trekking if I can find it....

Posted by: monica at November 22, 2006 08:03 AMThe socks look gorgeous!! I cant wait for you to share the pattern!
Oh your poor mother! I hope she feels better real soon.
That top is gorgeous! I can understand why you want to knit it so much.

Posted by: Nat at November 22, 2006 06:15 PMI'm ridiculously excited for the pattern for those socks. I lurve them.
Package yet?
Posted by: Cece at November 23, 2006 05:48 AMLove your socks, very pretty. The lace top looks beautiful, but White Lies seem to make very elegant looking knitwear dont they. I hope your mum is okay, I would go around and do things for her anyway, as she is probably stubborn and doesnt like asking for help. My grandmother used to be the same, and when she broke her hip she had no choice, so had to accept help, which I think made her a bit disgruntled, especially after raising 7 children and doing most things by herself.
Posted by: Sue at November 23, 2006 07:06 AMBeautiful socks Donna - the pattern and pastel colours work well tog. x
Posted by: NORA at November 23, 2006 01:02 PMForgot to mention that Em looks great in the action shots - a true dancer.
Also, I hope your mum recovers soon.
Posted by: NORA at November 23, 2006 01:04 PMGreat stuff as always. ;) I want to see how Twinkie reacts to the Polar Bear!!
=:8
Hi Donna,
I'm knitting the lacey panel jumper along with you and Nat. I've changed my mind about the colour I'm knitting mine in, so am waiting for the new yarn to arrive before I can start. Anyway, just wanted to pop over and say hi. I'm sort of sorry I did now - that Krista Tee is TO DIE FOR!! I've just added it to my to-do list. (g) At this rate I figure I'll be the poorest but best dressed knitter in this neck of the woods!!!
Love the bear!

You're going to have to do some serious knitting and sewing for Em to make up for the sneaky photo!! She looks great as always in her dancing shots.
I'm sorry to hear about your mum and I do hope she is not sore and recovers soon. Your socks are gorgeous and I know that you'll cave in and order the new kit, but it will just make the rest of us all feel better, whether we've given in to our own temptations, or are enjoying your purchase vicariously!!
