Saturday again, they sure do come around quick, don't they?

100_1339.jpg

Another beautiful day, although it had started out gloomy and grey.
I have sleevage.

Two sleeves, knit exactly as the pattern said. They look very narrow, but I'm too lazy to adjust the pattern, and frankly, I'm already over this sweater. They go around my arm, but I don't have skinny little arms anymore, and I think they're going to be fairly fitted. I'm hoping they'll loosen up a little with blocking.
After much consideration, I ripped the front back to the mistakes.

I have to admit that I was very tempted to just leave it as it was, but it would have driven me mad knowing the mistakes were there. It's not too bad, I'm at the armhole shaping, so there's not too much to be done.
I have a blocking question for everyone.
The back neck has some live stitches sitting on a stitch holder, waiting to do the neckband. Do you prefer to block it, live stitches and all, then seam and do the neckband, or do you seam, do the neckband, then block?
Usually I seam the shoulders, then do the neckband, then block it as one piece before puttng in the sleeves and doing the side seams, but I was interested to see what everyone else does.

New Knitty!

David loves this, but I think I'm too lazy.

For myself, I like the monkey socks. (There's a surprise!)

And the Argosy scarf.

And Em likes the Piggle hat.

And I haven't shown her Twinkletoes, but don't they just have her name all over them?

And they were designed by Chloe, who was my lace swap pal!
However, I have no Calmer. I've never knit with Calmer before, though have heard all good things. I don't suppose anyone has a lonely ball laying about in a girly colour that they want to offload? ;)
Is it worth buying just one ball for them? Like I've ever needed too much of an armtwisting when it comes to yarn buying!

A Twinkie photo. She's found a new hiding place.

Still no green christmas tree, but I bought a new Christmas candle.

Pretty!

Love love the candle!

I may have a ball of Calmer around here, though I'm pretty sure it's light blue. I'll do some digging to see if I can find it. I think I have some pink Cotton Ease (if it can be used as a substitute, can't remember).

You chose my top two favourite patterns too - the binary scarf and Cookie's socks. I'm safe on the scarf until The Boy figures out what message he wants to put on it. And I'm trying to figure out how to sneek more sock yarn into the house for those socks....

Get the Calmer, it is sooo soft.

I have some white and laurel green that you are welcome to! I'll pop it in the post next week

I used them for my Nothing but a TShirt

I really like the socks from Knitty as well as that Argosy scarf. Might have to get a couple balls of the DK Silk Garden and make it. Hmm.

Love those patterns from Knitty. That diagonal scarf thing especially. Good choices!

And that candle is just lovely, not mention your sleeves. Good work on ripping it back. Sometimes, we just have to.

The sleeves might stretch out a little so the sleeves should be fine, I guess. The last time I knitted with cotton, the piece stretched sideways so much, I couldn't keep it on my shoulders! The new knitty looks absolutely scrumptious!

I think it was a good idea to rip back and fix the mistakes. You'll be much happier with it. Hopefully the pattern on the sleeves will be stretchy enough to give you a good fit.

Everything looks awesome! And I like Twinkie's new hiding place too. :)

Aha, I just KNEW you would go back an undo it. Don't you feel better now? I'm sure all will be well once it's finished. Luuurve the socks, will have to get the pattern. Like the scarf argosy scarf too, where was that pattern from?
Take care, and happy knitting.

I prefer to block before doing any seaming - it does appear to make any sewing up that much easier. Plus, the advantage of blocking while you still have live stitches is that in the unfortunate case of dropping a stitch while knitting up those sts, or similar problem, the blocked sts are pretty much 'set' and won't run back down and unravel too easily. A blessing when a complicated lace or cable pattern's involved:-)

I like to block all my pieces first before seaming as it makes the seaming go so much more smoothly. Glad you frogged the front. You will be too - eventually. :o) I love the Knitty socks. They're on my to-do list.

I like to block before I seam. Love the candle holder Donna, it is very pretty, we finally put our tree up yesterday. I like the monkey socks too I printed it out last night, but its a long way down my list of things to knit.

the binary scarf is cool - and it is exactly why knitting machines were invented, it would take an hour to make!
I thought of Em when I saw the twinkletoes - yes you must make them!

Twinkie is adorable, as usual!

I am glad you asked the blocking question, as I was wondering that very thing myself. The CPH had live stitches on the back of the neck and I just knit up the hood and figured I'd block it all later.

Those twinkletoes are perfect for Em. I'm liking the Caliometry (sp?) headband myself. Looks like it keeps your head warm without squashing your hair. (When I take a regular hat off, my hair stands up on end). :)
