Saturday

100_2040.jpg

Yep, another gorgeous sunny Sydney Saturday sky.
Saturday isn't my favourite day of the week, because it tends to be one of the busiest days, driving Em here, there and everywhere. Between dancing and her social life, I think I need to install a taxi meter.

Knitting. Yes, please?
I have managed a few rows of the Fern Garden Stole.

It's growing nicely.
This stole is labeled an advanced knit, and I think I've mentioned this before, but I'm not finding it all that difficult. Essentially it's the same two rows over and over, but they move over a little in each row. That said, there have been a few little mistakes, but they're really easy to fudge if you need to, and you can't be bothered ripping back.
Here's a close up of the stitch pattern.

I'm using Zephyr 50% silk, 50% merino which is my absolute favourite lace weight yarn. It's available in Australia from Yarns Online, whom I highly recommend for your yarn fix.
And speaking of Yarns Online, a fix may have arrived yesterday. Just a little one, I'm trying to cut back on my habit!

Melody sock yarn in y-24, and the Heartstrings Sock Journal. Because there is no such thing as too much sock yarn or too many sock patterns.
I was going to knit some socks for David's Mum for Mothers Day with the Melody, but I think I want to keep it for me. Because I'm selfish. And I'm not good at sharing my toys.

But remember the sock pattern I shared? The one up there in the top right hand corner of the blog? The Zig Zag socks?
Dandy knit them! Go have a look. I'm so excited, they look wonderful!

The stole is looking fantastic!! When I was at work I loved waking up on Saturday morning and accidentally thinking it was Friday: and then remembering it wasn't!!
Lovely sock wool. And what lovely ZigZag socks too, and nice sneaky look at the Opal wool: Greeeeeeeeennnnnnn!!!

So, which pattern are you going to knit first? I have the February sock on the needle knit up in a red DK weight yarn with red/green handpainted yarn for the toes and heels. I need to finish up the second sock and wear them!

As with all your knitting the Fern Garden Stole looks beautiful. I bough some things yesterday from Meaghan and it was hard to decide between the Heartstrings Sock Journal and the Melody yarn to what I bought which was the Zephyr in vanilla and The Treasury of Knitting Patterns. I would like to buy the whole series, do you have them all and would you recommend buying them all? Hope you don't mind me asking.

I know what you mean about being selfish, I am the same with some yarns that I buy.

So loving that stole, and that sock yarn looks to die for. Poor M.I.L. missing out, you'll have to buy some more so that you can knit two pairs. I'm knitting my mum a scarf at the moment (not on my blog yet for obvious reasons) and I'm looking at it and thinking I don't want to part with it. hehe.

You're making tremendous progress on the shawl. I just finished a worsted-weight lace hat, but I have a healthy fear of (and respect for) lace knit on tiny needles that goes on for miles and miles like the stole does...

Like Sprite, I have a slight phobia but infinite admiration for lace knitted on microscopic needles, I really do love the fern lace shawl, and what I wouldn't do to be on the receiving end of that!

I hope Em is not going to expect that shawl to be hers anytime soon. The blue in your Saturday Sky is gorgeous. LUV your sock package too!

Wow, that stole is really coming along!

Love the Fern Stole, it looks gorgeous. I like the new sock yarn too. I think it gets a bit dangerous buying all these things for ourselves. I start to feel a bit guilty after a while of getting all these pressies all the time, although I do enjoy receiving them too. I cant wait to see how wonderful your socks turn out.
