Tuesday already?
The weekend flew by with the dancing event on. Saturday night, Emily danced until 10.30 or so, we got home at about 11.30pm. Sunday night, she danced until 11.30pm, and we got home at 12.15am on Monday morning.
Needless to say, everybody was on the tired side yesterday.

She wore her newest costume on Saturday night. (The one I was working on a few weeks back)

She won that section! In fact, she competed ten dances on Saturday night, and won five. She placed second in another, and third in yet another.
Here's Saturday's haul.

We headed back on Sunday night for the two big sections. Now that she's 14 she has to compete in the Senior sections. She was a little nervous about it.

She needn't have been, she came second in one of them, and first in the other.
She collects trophies the way I collect yarn!

A little bit of knitting happened along the way, but not much.
Rose Red started her sockapalooza socks last week in The Knittery's Cashmere Merino sock yarn. That reminded me that I'd started a sock in the very same colourway, so I went and hunted down the sock in progress.
The sock I'd started was a pattern of my own design, but I wasn't enjoying it, which is probably why it got tossed aside.
After contemplating the yarn for a while, I decided that it wanted to be the Lupine Lace Socks from Fiber Trends. (I got the pattern from The Wool Inn in Penrith for $AU6).
I haven't gotten very far yet!

I'm knitting them on my Celtic Forge sterling silver 2mm DPNS. Cashmere on Sterling Silver. This is the life!

I also started a baby cardigan.

I feel quite safe popping it up here, even though it's a gift. I know quite a few expectant mums, and at least 3 of them read this blog, so none of you know if it's for you!
That is the entirety of the knittng acheived since Saturday morning. I did sit down to work on the Shetland Shawl last night, but my head was aching, and I was so tired that I knew I would stuff it up, so I put it aside.

A few days back, Librarylass tagged me for the seven random things meme. I've spent a few days thinking about it.

1. I am a baby about the cold. Despite the fact that we have relatively mild winters here in Sydney, I sleep with a hot water bottle. Last night was the first time I've used it this year. It has a fuzzy cover, and I dreamed last night that I was cuddling puppies.

2. I'm relatively shy, and although I love to meet people, I'm not good at meeting new people in the flesh. Despite that, I flew alone interstate to meet David (and others) for the first time at a Usenet meet.

3. I'm a lousy housekeeper. Really lousy. But I get stressed if the house is a mess. Therefore, I'm stressed a lot.

4. I love to eat, I love to read cookbooks and cooking magazines, but I hate to cook. I can make a pretty good banana cake and anzac biscuits though.

5. Every report card I brought home from school in High School said "Donna talks too much and is easily distracted". Some things never change.

6. I'm one of five kids. I was the eldest until my mother died and I went to live my Dad and my stepmother when I was 8. Now I'm the second eldest. I have two sisters and two brothers.

7. I'll be 36 in 9 days.

Em looks gorgeous and tell her CONGRATULATIONS from an old dancer who knows what hard work (and fun) dancing can be. And CONGRATULATIONS to you too on that beautiful costume. Both are a credit to you.

Ye gads! I'm older than you? And I'm the one with a short person who just turned 8 months old? Anyhow, in case I forget later, Happy Birthday!

Congrats to Em - how could she not win trophies in her gorgeous dress! You are really so clever with your sewing and knitting! The socks look great - fab yarn (heh!). You got the colour much better than I did in my pic yesterday!

A big congratulations to Em on her prizes, she looks very pretty in the costume you made you did a fantastic job as per. I know I keep saying this but you are very talented.

Em looks beautiful - the girl and the costume are a credit to you!

Like you, I'm shy - well, reserved anyway! I'm getting better in my old age! LOL Strange that I love teaching - it's one-on-one I find difficult!

I don't like housework, tidy looks better than fanatically clean so I'll take the former and skip the latter! Besides there's knitting and blogging to make time for! LOL

Em looks beautiful - the girl and her costume are a credit to you.

I, too, am shy; well, reserved anyway! I'm getting better in my old age! Strangely, I love teaching; it's one-on-one that I find diffcult, especially with strangers!

Knitting and blogging need time so something has to give, right? For me, that's housework. As long as it's reasonably cleam and tidy, dust won't rust! And nobody has to eat off the floor!

A big congrats to Em!!! That's a LOT of trophies!
I got kicked out from the dance group when I was in first grade (we were supposed to perform some cultural dance). The teacher told my mom I was too stiff! Hehe!

Congrats to Em! She's awesome!!

I'm with you on #4 except for anzac biscuits. What are those?

It always pays to do what you love. Em looks beautiful in her costume, (and what a fantastic job you did on making it too), and many congratulations on her doing so well in all her dances. I get stressed when the house is messy too, but I suffer from anxiety attacks which are awful, so I try to keep on top of the housework, thereby having one less thing to stress out about. The baby cardigan is looking good so far too.

Em looks so beautiful, she looks like Snow White

Well done on both the costume and the prizes - it's so wonderful when your child is passionate AND talented at something. Brings tears to your eyes every time, doesn't it?

Lovely to discover a bit more about you - thanks for writing. Can relate to the housekeeping stuff!
