I write a number of rows down, usually the amount for the pattern, and in the square I write the amount I need to decrease, and (a) for armhole and (n) for neckline so I dont decrease in the wrong spot. I love the color of the sweater too and I am sure it will be finished in no time at all and you can cast on for another wonderful project.

how did you join the sleeves to the body??? and how come there's still stitch holders near the armpit if you have joined them?? hmmm???

I have the same problem with "at the same time". Usually I write out a list of the row numbers I have to decrease on, just so that I'm aware and cross them off as I go.

I always write down and count EVERY row. Not that I'm obsessive, or a control freak who needs both sides of her cardigan or both socks to be exactly the same...or else!!!!

yup do it too, u'd be surprised the amount of times Ive just done the sleeve edge and totally forgot the neckline till Im almost complete, Thats what afroggin' is for lol. I really love that colour have used it many of times.

Yep, I do the same thing. Ribby is at that point of joining body to sleeves and I have been to lazy to write out my notes so it is just sitting there waiting.

Love that jumper,is your pattern? I can usually count the rows etc but have been known to swap the neck and arm edges with increases and decreases,LOL

The sweater looks great! I do the same thing - write it all down - that's the best way, I think.

Oh right. I get it now. All of you people have been writing things down and I have just been muddling along. How could I expect things to work out?

Oh, I always end up doing that, just because I can never remember what I've done and I want to make sure that everything is symmetrical. Plus, if I deviate from the pattern (on purpose or otherwise), at least I've got a written record of what I did just in case I want to do it again (or in case I need to undo it and do it properly).

I write it down too. It's the only way I trust myself to get it right.

It's beautiful. And no, you're not the only one, I have stickies, clickers, notes - you name it. I shiver when I see the workds "and at the same time" brrrr.

I usually have to write it down and I keep track with a row counter, otherwise I can't keep it all together.

Donna, I have to write out each row too, before I even start, and as I knit I cross it out.... and sleeves... oh boy thats twice the fun, I get to write it out TWICE!! lol

When I saw your notes I didn't think distracted but organized instead!

I do most of my knitting in an old cloth chair, so when I need to keep track of rows, I pin a piece of paper to the arm, and then after each row, I poke a hole in the paper- so many holes per pattern repeat, per row or set of decreases or whatever, that way I can keep track of everything without having to stop to write it down.

Donna, I do that too. I have a small notebook with every project and keep track or rows. I am no good at counting rows in my knitting, I could count ten times and come up with different numbers each time.

Yeah, it's easy to be distracted, or forget where you're up to. I generally write out all the row numbers, and make a code mark (* or + etc) next to each one depending on what needs to be done at the row, then cross the rows off as I go.

I'm exactly like you. The words "at the same time" strike fear in me, which is why I hate neck shaping on raglan cardigans. Too much to think about!!!

I often make a chart and check off each row as I go. Whatever works!

I too loose track of decreases and do as you do - manually write out every single row. It's a pain, but at least it works. :)

I just write down the number of stitches for every decrease/increase row; then cross through them (diagonally) as I go. For the second sleeve I cross diagonally the other way!
