Monday sky?

Monday sky! It was a public holiday here today, so it's like a Saturday.

That little wisp of a cloud? It was the only one in the sky. Seeing as it was such a lovely day, we upped and went to the Sydney Fish Markets for lunch.

I had the seafood platter, David had Barramundi and Em had Fish and Chips.

Yum.

We also had an audience.

We weren't the only ones who decided it would be a nice place to have lunch, either.

And it's October 1, which means that the Southern Summer of Socks kicked off today!

I have chosen the Slinky Socks as my first pair. I chose these for a couple of reasons.
It's a different pattern to use up some of my self striping yarns, it has an afterthought heel, which I've not tried before, and I'm going to knit them on two circs.
Only one sock at a time, though. Last time I tried two socks on two circs, it was a disaster. And I hated it.

Mind you, so far, this hasn't been a total success.

Both of those needles are supposed to be in the sock. I lose track, and end up picking up the wrong needle. Then I'm Magic loop-ing, instead.

I may end up back on DPNS yet. The yarn is Hot Socks, given to me by the lovely Jessica. It has been claimed by Em, of course.

Here's a better picture of the sock. (Such as it is!)

Next time, we'll discuss why it's sometimes a good idea to pack more than one project if you're going to be locked in a school hall all day.

Good luck with the socks. I never thought I'd see you knitting on two circs again after last time.

It's not that hard--really! When you get to the end of the needle, drop the entire needle! Pick up the other one! Continue, ad nauseum. ;)

Yes, most of my socks have been knit on two circulars. And some on DPNs. But with the two circulars, I don't have to worry about poking myself, breaking a needle, or any of that other fun stuff. Plus they provide dangly ends for the short person to try to pull out of my knitting. Free entertainment!

I LOVE fish & chips! It looked like such a lovely day - and warm too! The only negative is the birds who want to eat your food too.

the only method i know knitting socks is using 2 circulars. i never got the hang of using dpns. anyway, i've only knitted 3 socks so far. 3 socks, not 3 pairs of socks. hahahahahaha.

mmmm seafood :)

If magic loop comes so "naturally" to you, why not just go with it? Personally I *loathe* 2 circs and would much rather magic loop or use dpns!

yum, the fish and chips look great! I have the same problem with 2 circs, I prefer magic loop or dpns. And I am guessing that you got caught with not enough knitting on hand, how awful!

Good luck with the two circulars Donna. I've tried it too and hated it in fact the sock I started is still sitting on the circulars must do something about that. I am back to using my DPNS.

Lunch anywhere on the harbour would be great on a nice day; or even on a not so nice day so long as you can stay warm and dry.
Love Em's hat, and go well with the socks.

Oh I love the fish markets. I try to go when I can, when time in sydney allows.

And I'm so glad you're in SSS! Love having you on board!

Oh, I know that 'all stitches on one needle' feeling. The first time I decided to knit socks [back in May], Anita sold me two circulars because she didn't have dpns in the correct size. I knitted all the stitches onto one needle several times, then went to Lincraft for dpns!
