Stop the world I want to get off!

Slow down!

Right now, everything, slow down, or I'm going to have a freakin' temper tantrum. Or something.

I'm having one of those weeks, where everyone I have any contact with seems to want something from me, where my list of tasks awaiting my attention just gets longer and longer, no matter how much I do, and nothing is coming out the way I expect.

I'm just having one of those weeks.

And to top it all off today we've reached our broadband limit and our speed has been throttled. I'm surfing the internet in slow motion. And I don't like it!

Not a lot of knitting has been achieved this week. I did finally finish the Stupid Slinky Socks last Friday. I've been waiting to get a picture of the Empress wearing them, but it just hasn't happened. (Back to that flat out thing). So I gave up and took a picture on the sock blockers.

They're fraternal twins, and I'm just glad that they're finished. The first one was done on two circs, which I detested. I had trouble with the foot length, the toe and the afterthought heel.
The second one went much more smoothly, thankfully!

Specs
Pattern: Slinky Socks by Rae Blackledge, from MagKnits.
Needles: 2mm. Two circs on the first sock, dpns on the second. Different gauge for each method!
Yarn: Four Seasons Hot Socks, with KnitPicks Essential for the toes and the heels.

And now they're done, I'm over them.

I did manage to finish the Hemlock Ring Blanket. It took 4 hours to cast off, all of which was done during Em's dance lessons. But it isn't very attractive yet.

Yet to be blocked. The only space I have big enough to block it is my bed. And it's so thick and heavy, I'm going to have to wait for a nice hot, dry day. Today it rained, so no blocking.

Apart from that, all I've managed all week is one repeat (8 rows) of Nicole. So now I'm heading to my sofa, where I'm going to spend the rest of the night, with my feet up and Nicole in my lap!

Sorry about the duplicates. The moderation said my comment was refused - LOL!

The socks look great.

A bit long to wait but come next winter, the 4 hours it took to cast of the blanket will be forgotten when you snuggle under it!

Wow! Four hours??

Don't you hate weeks like that? I'm having one too. It will culminate this afternoon when I bake brownies for 75 people. How do I get myself into these things? Can't wait to see the blanky blocked!

Such cute socks! And I can't wait to see the Hemlock blanket blocked, it's next on my list!

Good thing you have your knitting to relax with after a trying week! I can't wait to see the beauty of the Hemlock once it's blocked. I get such a kick out of seeing it all crumpled like that and the subsequent transformation.

Try to take it easy! The Hemlock blanket already looks beautiful!

Here's wishing you a *great* weekend!

Look on the bright side, you finished the Stupid Slinky Socks AND casted off the Hemlock Ring Blanket. 4 hours! I don't even dare to imagine how many stitches there are.

Take care =D

Oh I hope my mobile crossword request wasn't an added stress to your week :(

I hope your weekend is much more relaxed with no demands on your time - OK, maybe that's unrealistic - but we can hope for FEWER demands :)

Looking forward to seeing the blocking magic on the blankie!

the hemlock looks like an octopus sitting there. It will be gorgeous when blocked. I have had trouble with the pattern up till the feather and fan bit, I ripped it 3 times, I kept getting a stitch too many or less, past that now so hopefully smooth sailing from now on.

There must be something in the air this week.

Can't wait to see Hemlock blocked.

You were quick getting the Hemlock done, though I'm sure it didn't feel that way from your end. Take a deep breath. It's the weekend! Yay. Hope you find some time to yourself. :o)

oh you finished it! Can't wait to see when it doesn't look like a bowl of porridge!

Well, the socks look great despite the horror involved in creating them! And your blanket also looks gorgeous already.

Happy weekend, happy knitting, happy thoughts!

I can empathise. I know that doesn't make your week slow down any or make you feel any better but I DO know how you feel. I hope things slow down for you soon.

Ooo, sorry about the rough week. The socks are very cute, and your Hemlock lump looks great!

Posted by: Octopus Knits at November 5, 2007 02:13 PM

It's bad enough that we put pressure on ourselves without others putting it on us too. Hopefully that is all done now and you have been able to take a few calming breaths.
The HRB looks wonderful. Can't wait to get mine finished.

I know you are glad to be rid of the socks! They did turn out nice, even though they were no fun to make.

You're finished with the blanket already?! That seemed to go fast!

I hope the world has slowed down and you are feeling less boogelly now. Love the slinky socks. The are fraternal but somehow they seem just right!!
