Stupid Rabbit
So at lunch time today, I was walking from the kitchen into the lounge room. Twinkie decided to run between my legs and beat me to it.
I kicked my little toe on the nice solid wall unit. And cracked the bone.
It hurt.
A lot.
But at least it isn't broken.
Mind you, I just bought pretty new strappy shoes to wear to Ailsa's birthday party tomorrow night. At least I can wear one of them, I guess.
Stupid Rabbit.
In knitting news, I got tired of working on the Top Secret project, so I cast on for the first of the Kim Hargreaves kits.
It's the Flicker hat! Here's a close up of the beaded bit.
I'm really enjoying the Rowan Wool Cotton. It's a 50% Merino/50% Cotton blend, and it's nice and squishy. I am a little worried that I'm going to run short on beads, because some of them were just too small to fit on the yarn, but we'll see how we go.
Swanknitter has tagged me for another meme.
This is a reading one, and David and I got a really good laugh out of it.
"open the book you’re currently reading to page 161 and read the fifth sentence on the page, then think of 5 bloggers to tag."
I'm currently reading "Dreams Made Flesh" by Anne Bishop. Despite the sound of the title, it's not p*rn. But Page 161, sentence 5 is the start of a sex scene. It mentions part of male anatomy, and leather trousers, and.. oh, my.
Enough said!
I'm off to elevate my foot and knit. And maybe read a little!

Oh no! Pleased to hear it is not broken, so get better soon.
Bad Twinkie.
Enjoy yourself at the party!
Posted by: Janette at November 16, 2007 09:40 PMHang on... have you achieved knitting nirvana? The inability to do any useful housework/driving but uninjured hands?
SCORE!!!!!
(I'm still very sorry to hear about this and hope you have lots of painkillers :)
Posted by: Andrea at November 16, 2007 09:54 PMOuch, ouch, ouch. I feel for you with the toe but I still had to laugh about your meme reponse. Sounds like a good book!
Posted by: Natalie at November 16, 2007 10:59 PMOUCH! Hope your toe heals soon!
The Flicker Hat looks great! I love all the beads.
Posted by: Michelle at November 16, 2007 11:33 PMThat had to hurt!!!
The hat is really pretty with the beads. I hope you have enough.
Posted by: Wool Winder at November 17, 2007 12:38 AMOh, I hope all is better before your trip to the States. But at least you have the perfect excuse for sitting and knitting!
Posted by: Chris at November 17, 2007 12:43 AMOuch! I hope that you're up to all the walking you're going to be doing on your upcoming trip. In the meantime, I think you should paint your toenails blue/purple/black, something in that color family. I had a roommate in college who did that for me when I injured the tendons in my foot, and people really seemed to think that the nail color worked with the whole injured foot thing.
Posted by: Susan at November 17, 2007 12:53 AMOuch. Been there, done that. And I don't even have a bunny to blame it on. Hope it heals quickly.
Posted by: Karen at November 17, 2007 01:39 AMOh ouch! Bad Twinkie! Glad it's not broken but I'm sure it hurt just as much.
Posted by: Restless Knitter at November 17, 2007 03:01 AMOh no, not even a knitting related injury! Keep that foot elevated so it doesn't swell. At least you can get in some couch time to read and knit. I hope you got some pain killers so you're comfortable. Here's wishing you will heal quickly!
Posted by: Evelyn at November 17, 2007 03:53 AMOoooohhhhh-bad Twinkie! Of course, maybe she had an ulterior motive-now that you're not very mobile, you'll have lots of cuddle time....
Posted by: Janet at November 17, 2007 04:57 AMOuch! I'm sorry! I hope you heal fast. Good thing Twinkie is so cute.
Posted by: monica at November 17, 2007 05:37 AMTrix cereal says Silly Rabbit. Feel better!!
Posted by: kathleen at November 17, 2007 07:37 AMOuch! Twinkie's not injured though I'm sure. I remember when I was young and my dog tripped me over and I sprained my ankle. That was painful enough so I cant imagine how much a cracked bone hurts. At least you have a good excuse for time to sit and knit some more.
Posted by: Sue at November 17, 2007 08:54 AMOuch, I feel for you. I did something similar in high school many years ago (ex's house, walked into a tree, enough said) but I remember the pain.
The beaded hat looks very interesting.
Posted by: Suzanne at November 17, 2007 10:37 AMFeel better Donna! Love the beaded hat, btw!
Posted by: Debi at November 17, 2007 01:08 PMDear dear Donna, so sorry to hear about the lil toe!! But I guess it's a good excuse to sit and knit all day hehe!
Get well soon!
Posted by: Mira at November 17, 2007 04:05 PMOh dear naughty Twinkie but good excuse to get out of things and knit more.
Hope it heals quick though
Posted by: metal and knit at November 17, 2007 05:34 PMHope your toe heals quickly, and I'm sure Twinkie feels pretty bad about the incident.
Posted by: Diana at November 18, 2007 05:23 AMAnimals! Twinkie had an motive in mind. Mum is sitting, I get cuddles. My thoughts are with you, it's amazing how much stubbing/cracking and breaking (been there, done that) a toe can hurt. Plenty of Panadol Forte.
Love the Flicker Hat, the beading really sets it off.
So you have no excuse not to be sitting, foot elevated, book in lap, knitting in hand, and Twinkie by the side..... and a cuppa.....
Posted by: Lorelle at November 18, 2007 10:23 AMOuch! Hope you feel better soon!!
Wool cotton is really nice to knit with. I'm using Cotton Fleece at the moment and its so lovely. So much nicer than regular cotton!
Posted by: Lien at November 18, 2007 12:06 PMOuch! OTOH, painkillers, knitting, enforced lounging about... I see a silver lining. :-)
Posted by: Janet at November 18, 2007 12:36 PMAck!!!! Hope it heals quickly. Toes and fingers - they hurt like a son of a gun. The beaded knitting looks so pretty!
Posted by: chris at November 18, 2007 11:51 PMAck!!!! Hope it heals quickly. Toes and fingers - they hurt like a son of a gun. The beaded knitting looks so pretty!
Posted by: chris at November 18, 2007 11:51 PMOh f***ing OW sweetie!! Toes hurt like the blazes, don't they?!! There's generally not much they can do, even if it is broken, apart from wrapping it up and staying off it. Hopefully this gives you plenty of knitting time (Yeah. In the heat. DAMN).
Hope Twinkie is getting some CONSEQUENCES for this naughty behaviour. No carrots or something...
Lovin' those beads - beautiful! Hope you're feeling better REAL fast - I was going to say 'quick like a bunny' but then thought better of it LOL ;)
Posted by: Jejune at November 19, 2007 06:30 PMSorry to hear about your toe. I'm looking forward to see that hat when it's done. Got your blog adress from Marika. And now I know I will be back and look into what your up to.

Posted by: debbie at November 20, 2007 03:45 PMsorry to hear about your foot - hope it gets better as soon as you finishall your Xmas knitting (wink wink!)
Posted by: Nat at November 20, 2007 06:33 PMSorry to heard that you hurt your toe - well look at it positively - more knitting time as you have to put your feet up & be pampered. The beads look nice with the yarn. Take care.
Posted by: Ann at November 20, 2007 07:22 PMSorry to hear about your toe. I know what it's like too I've done it to my little toes on both feet many moons ago. You did a wonderful job with David's gloves they look really great!
Posted by: Helen at November 20, 2007 10:13 PMI hope your foot feels better soon. That looks and sounds really painful.
Posted by: Madame Purl at November 21, 2007 03:06 AMSo sorry to hear about your foot. And I thought cats and dogs got in the way!

Sorry about your toe - at least it's an injury which doesn't prevent you from knitting!!
I hope you'll flash the new shoes next week!!
