Finished Project Friday

Well, I've finished Nicole. Finally. But I have to say I'm not 100% happy with it.

Please excuse the very bad hair day.

It's a nice top, and I love the Cathay, but I'm not sure about it. I don't think I'd wear it out in public the way it is. (And what does it say about me that I'm saying I won't wear it out in public, but I'll put it up here, on the internet for potentially thousands of people to see?)

The lacy bit on the front is possibly a little bit too lacy to be worn on it's own. And it's not my style to wear it over another top. It's not uneven at the bottom the way this picture would suggest, btw.
And I think I would definitely need to button it up all the way to the bottom. I'll leave the navel baring to Em, who has a nice flat tummy, thankyouverymuch.

So, I'm undecided. And I think that's why I haven't been in a hurry to finish it. I'll have to think on it a little longer.

I did start something else.

It's my Buttercup shrug by Kim Hargreaves! (Why do I keep calling it Butterfly?) All is going well so far. Let's hope it stays that way.

And something else may have been resurrected from the WIP pile....

I think it looks great, but you do need to wear something under it, that's the way BM designed it.

You just have to find something to wear under it, it's gorgeous!

I think Nicole looks gorgeous on you. Its a very flattering little top. :)

It's very pretty! Try wearing it over another shirt before you completely give up on it. You might like it better that way than you think.

I think it looks great! I would wear it under something as opposed to over. Like a cardigan with some of the lace stitching done down the arm to tie it together.
Also I know Twinkie is is time out for taking you out last week but I'm having Twinkie withdraws would you mind posting a picture so I can have a fix LOL.
Hope the foot is feeling better, you have to be up to walking for you Holiday in the USA

It's adorable! What about wearing it over a camisole, to keep the tank-top look to it? Or would that be too hot where you are?

I think it's beautiful. With the bottom buttoned shut it would be perfect to wear on a hot Aussie day.

i love nicole on you! don't give up on it - try it over or under as others have suggested, it's just too pretty....i miss twinkie too....

Look at you - you look great! And I agree, keep trying with Nicole - either a camisole underneath or maybe a darker coloured tight t-shirt - I think it would look great!

Great pattern on Buttercup, looks so cool!

You could always just pop a different colored camisole underneath it, or perhaps save it for Em to wear one day. I think it looks nice, and Buttercup is looking nice too.

Looks great. Try it the way others suggested, you never know, you might like it. I have no other advice because I have only knit sleeveless tops for my niece and if I remember correctly, I gave her a matching tank to wear underneath it.

Very cute!

I think it looks great on you and I think you could certainly wear this out in public. But if you're uncomfortable, find a little something to wear under it to make it a bit more discrete. Personally I don't think you need to, but do what it takes to make this wearable - it's too pretty on you to leave in a cupboard.

It's lovely. Perhaps a light camisole underneath? That's not like wearing another shirt and it would give you the coverage you wanted.

I think it looks great too, what about trying out a white singlet top underneath it. It's such a very pretty top it would be a shame not to wear it.

Very pretty! It really looks great on you. A nice little white tank would be great underneath it.

You look great in Nicole & I think you should wear it out - it's really pretty - just wear something under & it will be fine. The shrug looks nice too & you should be able to wear this one.

I think Nicole looks fabulous on you, but I can understand about the lacy front. How about a camisole to wear underneath? Or is it possible to line it with some material? It really does look wonderful on you.

It's a pretty garment. However, as much as I like it, it's not one that I would wear, for the same reason you state. I don't like to layer much and never thought I'd buy the types of blouses I've seen layered with Nicole. I hope you do get some use out of it, but if not, it is a pretty knit, if not necessarily being worn.

I think Nicole looks great on you!

Nicole is lovely! I agree with everyone else. It looks great on you. I would find a cami to wear under it and go for it. You only live once and it really does look wonderful. Be bold. : )
