I'm freeeee!!!!!

Sorry for the blog blackout. I've been kind of snowed under. Well, busy at any rate.

Last night was Em's dance concert. Do you know what that means? That means that I'm free of dance lessons for the rest of the year! I don't have to go to the dance studio 7 times a week. Hip hooray!!
The concert was lovely, the best yet, I think. Em didn't win any of the major prizes this year, but she did receive a special award for having 10 years of perfect attendance. That's right, not one missed lesson in 10 years.

Her teacher gave her a lovely gold bracelet with her name engraved on it. See Emily? Up there? Over the moon?!

We did take time out for a nice relaxing day on Sunday. We had a beach day and headed down to Wollongong. The weather looked a little bit iffy, but it turned out gorgeous.

Beautiful view, and the skydivers were out, enjoying the weather.

We had fish and chips for lunch, ad the seagulls came along to check for leftovers.

I took along my knitting, of course.

I started the first front of Buttercup.

However, when I got home I took a good hard look at it, and I wasn't happy with it.

The picots looked a little crowded and messy to me. So I frogged it and started over. The picots are meant to be done every second row, but I'm doing them every fourth row. I'm happier with it now, but not totally happy. I'm not very good at nice, even, tidy picots.

I'm tempted to rip it out again and start over, abandoning the picots altogether. But I'm too lazy.

David came home bearing flowers yesterday.

For Twinkie, not me. Spoiled much?

15 days until we leave!

Ah yes, freedom is so close here too. One more prac, one more assignment and then glorious breathing space.

You must be soooooooo excited about your trip. The Christmas countdown for adults :P

Congratulations to Em.

Cruel! We're having our first snow here, but not enough on the ground for the schools to close. But, in 18 days, I should see things like that since we're heading south to the Florida beaches ;-)

Perfect attendance for 10 years is amazing! I really like your pictures of the beach. 15 days is not long at all.

Those beach photos look so surreal to me. We got 3 inches of snow overnight and the kids had a two-hour school delay to allow the plows to get around. Hard to believe there are people swimming in the ocean somewhere right this minute.

Cove the beach view. Here it's rainy and cold

Congratulations to you MOM for sitting through all those years of perfect attendance practice!

You are SO taunting those of us in the northern hemisphere with those beach photos! I'm envious. Congrats to Em (and you!) on her perfect attendance record!

Love da 'Gong!!
Are you leaving on the 20th and flying United? My sister and brother in law are leaving that day to the States as well. I've already started ordering stuff and getting it sent over so they can bring it back for me =)

is that fifi at the beach? you look lovely and i think i want to make me one....nice beach weather! we had a windstorm with rain hitting the islands with spotty electrical outages - stayed home today because of the weather (though forced my daughter to go to school at the university - finals next week)and did some knitting. we're seeing more of the same for the rest of the week but the worst is supposedly over.

Congratulations to Em. However, when it comes to something like perfect attendance over 10 years (wow!) I think the mother who drove her to all the lessons should get a matching bracelet. Congratulations to YOU !! Job well done.

The weather looks awesome! It's rainy and gray here today and going to the beach to enjoy the sun and eat fish & chips sounds like heaven.

Can I switch places with you please? Those photos are just wonderful, compared to the view outside. We don't have snow right now, but it could come any time. It's just cold and gray.

Of course Twinkie gets flowers. If it were a gift for you, it would be yarn, right?

Hope your toe is much better now. Please let me know, but only if you have time, if you'd like to meet in NYC for coffee. I know you all probably have a busy schedule planned, but it would be fun to see you if we could work it out.

Way to go Em, 10 years perfect attendance.
Wollongong beach looks great, the beaches around there have always been nice.
Those picot's look fine to me, both every second or every fourth row. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Lucky Twinky, BTW, what will happen to him while you are away?

Great beach shots. I am jealous as it has been so cold in the morning that I have actually used the seat warmers in the car.

Em deserves congrats but so do you Donna...I'm sure Mum moved heaven and earth to make sure she didn't miss a one!

That's great! I can't wait for the school year to be over - another week & I am free too! I think your 2nd attempt at the picot edge looks alright to me.
