I swear I was going to post more often
Really, I intended to post while I was over here on holiday, but the days get away from me.
After I posted last Saturday, I realised I was missing Stitch n Bitch. But I had another knitting meetup in the works instead.
Emily and I met Wendy and Lucy!
We had a lovely time, knitting with Wendy and playing with Lucy. And yes, Lucy is just as soft and affectionate as she looks! Then we went out for a lovely Italian dinner.
And while I was in Alexandria, I also met up with Stacy. Unfortunately, David had the camera while he was out sightseeing, so I didn't get any pictures. She took me to a coffee shop where I had the best coffee I'd had since I arrived in the USA. (And I haven't had one as good since, either!)
We had to depart abruptly, to make it to the airport on time, but we did squeeze in a little stop ont he way to the airport.
Just a super quick stop at Knit Happens. This may have been my favourite store yet, I just wish I'd had more time to browse, but we were in a hurry for the flight, and David was stopped in a No Parking zone.
I did manage a small purchase.
With all these knitting stops, and the flight from Washington to Las Vegas, I've made some pretty good progress on the Shibui sock.
It actually has grown quite a bit since then, too. I took a picture yesterday at Disneyland, but there was a mishap with the XD card in the camera, and I think we've lost all the pictures we took at Disneyland. (Over 100 photos. I'm trying not to think about it, and hoping they can somehow be salvaged!)
Yesterday was our second day at Disneyland. We went for the first time on Wednesday, and had our own expert tour guide, Laura from JenLa! We had a great day, Disneyland is beyond awesome. There are not words to describe how much we all enjoyed it.
But I spent too much time talking to get much knitting done.
We fixed that in the evening, when we went to dinner, and Carolyn joined us.
Another great meal, with lovely people. Thanks, Laura and Carolyn!
Now we're in Beverly Hills. I haven't checked out any yarn stores yet, though. There's still time!

Did you get to see Wendy's stash?
::: sniff ::: How fair is it that you get to visit all thise wonderful store and I don't! And I live here ;-)
Wow, what a fantastic trip! Is it sad that I'm sooo much more jealous over the famous knitters/knit store tour than the whole Disneyland thing??? LOL
JHope yo continue to have a safe trip and find some decent coffee! Hi to Dave and Em, and hope the XD card thing works out!

Tehehe! I'm glad I could at least help you in the coffee realm! And look at the goodies you got at Knit happens. I'm glad you had a chance to stop in and make a little purchase.
Posted by: Stacy at January 6, 2008 01:48 PMHappy New Year Donna!
Glad to see all of you had so much funnnn in US! and yarn shopping and meeting knitters!
Keeping my fingers crossed that the pics taken at Disneyland can be salvaged!
Posted by: Mira at January 7, 2008 01:04 AMYou've got me curious now. What's the coffee like in Australia? I would think most of the coffee shops like Starbucks would be the same.
Posted by: Wool Winder at January 8, 2008 12:27 AMOh it sounds like you're having a fantastic time!
Posted by: angie at January 8, 2008 03:05 PMI really enjoyed our time together! And it was fun seeing you again on Sunday
Posted by: La at January 9, 2008 04:12 AMI love me some Disneyland!! What fun it's been watching your trip!
Take the camera and card into someplace, my daughter worked at a Radio Shack and saved many people the agony of thinking their pics were gone when they were retrievable! So don't give up too soon on them!
Posted by: Lisa in Oregon at January 9, 2008 06:25 AMI've been waiting for you to post about meeting Wendy - I saw the pics of you at her blog last week and had hysterics (Felix came running in to see why I was so happy!).
Don't worry about the pics - pretty much everything is recoverable nowadays, unlike my Venice pics of four years ago... *sigh*
Posted by: Andrea at January 9, 2008 07:47 AMWow, it sounds as if you're having a wonderful time! I'm envious of you, getting to meet all those fabulous knitters :)
