Second!
Ailsa and I went to the Easter Show Arts Preview tonight, and checked it all out. Unfortunately, my Wedding Shawl didn't even get displayed, but the Shetland Shawl?
That's a very pretty red second place ribbon attached to my (badly displayed) shawl. And I'm over the moon with that, the shawl that won was incredible, and actually took out the overall knitting award for the whole show. Hand spun, incredibly fine, it made my cobweb look chunky!
I'm so proud I could burst! Unfoirtunately a great deal of the knitting is very badly displayed, many of the stockinette based shawls have actually been hung wrong side out. I wish I were joking.

Congrats on your second and thank you so much for the MMS of mine. I will be going to the show on Friday.

Posted by: Marina at March 18, 2008 11:26 PMCongratulations! I guess the people in charge of displays are not knitters.

Posted by: margene at March 19, 2008 12:56 AMGreat!! You deserve ribbons! It's beautiful, even if you can't see that it is from the display.
Posted by: Chery at March 19, 2008 01:08 AMCongratulations!!
And I hope that people are able to comment on how badly everything is displayed, maybe it will be improved on next year.
Posted by: Meadow at March 19, 2008 01:53 AMCongratulations! :) I wonder what the organisers were thinking..

Posted by: Rachael at March 19, 2008 08:10 AMCongratulations!!! Wow, how cool!. Shame about the display issues though.

Posted by: KSee at March 19, 2008 09:03 AMCongratulations! You definitely deserve the win.
Posted by: Ann at March 19, 2008 10:07 AMWell done Donna - fantastic result for a fantastic piece of lace knitting.
Posted by: Donyale at March 19, 2008 10:07 AMCongratulations - I was going to ask about the winner so I'm glad it was such a fine piece to beat yours!! Am hopefully going to the show on the weekend (mainly to look at the knitting!! And maybe buy some yarn...were there many yarn stalls? I saw Belisa was going to be there)
Posted by: Rose Red at March 19, 2008 10:33 AMCongratulations! It looks beautiful. Too bad about the displays, I don't know what they are thinking sometimes.
Posted by: Suzanne at March 19, 2008 10:34 AMcongratulations that is fabulous and what a shame that the displays weren't done correctly, shame shame
Corrie;)
Posted by: corrie at March 19, 2008 12:08 PMYay! Congratulations - I was sure something so pretty would do so well!
Posted by: Andrea at March 19, 2008 12:12 PMCongratulations, Donna,
You did a beautiful job there! It is such a shame that the display is so bad. It was worth all the effort and the issues with the border pattern. (And my mum sends her congrats, too.)
Posted by: Dawn at March 19, 2008 12:28 PMCongratulations! it's a shame the shawls were poorly displayed, but it is beautiful.
Posted by: Wanda at March 19, 2008 02:29 PMCongratulations!
Posted by: Octopus Knits at March 19, 2008 03:53 PMWow,Condradulations!! Wish I could have been there to see! The Perth Show wasnt too bad but I expected more being a big city show! Was the Sydney one heavy on the entries?
The people who arrange the items are sometimes volunteers, maybe they didnt have th expert eye for the Good Stuff!!! Well Done!!!
Congratulations!!!!!
Posted by: Janette at March 19, 2008 07:11 PMCongrats - I can point to it and say "I know her"!!
Posted by: Lien at March 19, 2008 09:16 PMCongratulations , what a pity people won't be able to appreciate the shawl fully. Must say since the show has moved to Homebush it's just not the same. We have in the past exhibited dogs, but the facilities are terrible, people come to see the displays and animals, and it's just not set up to do this. At least the knitting judging seems honest and it's worth entering, more than I can say for the dog judging :-\\. Will you be entering any of the local ag shows?
Posted by: Rachel at March 19, 2008 09:27 PMWell deserved. Absolutely gorgeous. Congrats.
Posted by: SallyO at March 19, 2008 09:51 PMAnd did you have any doubts!? It's beautiful Donna and we all know how hard you worked on it. You deserve it :-) Congrats!
Posted by: Stacy at March 19, 2008 11:37 PMCongratulations. That shawl deserves its prize.
Posted by: Patti at March 20, 2008 01:05 AMThat's great. Congratulations.
Posted by: sue at March 20, 2008 05:26 AMCongratulations Donna!!!
Your Shetland Shawl really deserves it!!!!
Woo-hoo! Congratulations. And to think I touched it way back last July....LOL
Posted by: Lynne at March 20, 2008 07:28 AMthat is so awesome! Congrats! Eh, the same person who displayed the knitwear just might be the same daft bitty to which you referred in a secret email correspondence. (Don't want to get too specific, just in case...)
Posted by: La at March 20, 2008 10:41 AMCongratulations!! Well deserved too. Did you leave some feedback at the show about the display? It sounds like they could do with it!
Posted by: Terri at March 20, 2008 11:12 AMAWESOME!! Congratulations :>
Posted by: Kate at March 20, 2008 03:23 PMWOOO HOOO!!! How could you NOT win a prize??!! So proud of you :D
The badly-displayed thing seems to be rife, it is a problem here at the Canberra Show too...
Posted by: Jejune at March 20, 2008 05:31 PMYou're right, it's not the best display, but what a beautiful shawl. Whatever won first place must have been quite impressive to beat it.
Posted by: jessie at March 20, 2008 09:20 PMIt was Karma. 2nd row, wow. If they allow it take pictures. Maybe with your phone? How to dress like a 13 yr old.
Dig out an old t-shirt from the "good old days" I know you must have some. I know I have mine from the 70's & 80's up in the attic.
I received my Brown Zephyr yesterday. Thank you so much for making something you did not like. I have a lot of catching up to do with my blog so will be posting this weekend.
Corgrats Donna!! It's gorgeous and you deserve it!
Posted by: Debi at March 22, 2008 01:44 PMCongratulations on both the shawl and the tickets. I'm going to start ending my blog posts with that sentence. It seems lucky!
Posted by: Madame Purl at March 24, 2008 10:18 AM
