Flicker-ish
I was wrong, I'll be the first to admit it! Em wore Flicker-ish today for the photos, and that means she wore it more than once!
She's very happy with the hat, and I'm biased, but I think it looks super cute!
Specs:
Pattern: Inspired by Kim Hargreaves' Flicker hat, which I made for myself late last year.
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Childs Play, purchased at Jimmy Beans Wool. (Super quick and super reasonable international shipping!)
Needles: 3.5mm (US 4) and 4mm (US6) Knitpicks options.
Modifications: Again, plentiful. The hat was inspired by Flicker, but it's quite a bit different. The Lorna's is a worsted weight, the yarn used in Flicker is a DK weight, so the stitch count is different. I worked it in the round, while Flicker is worked flat. The stitch pattern is a 3 row repeat, so when it's worked flat, every second repeat is a purl repeat. I didn't bother with that, I just did the three rows, all in stocking stitch. I think that's pretty much it.
But the most important thing is that it was finished for casual day at school, so it got worn at least once in public.
The other projects are all coming along nicely. Spirit is growing in leaps and bounds.
Sleeves and back are done.
Front is about halfway done.
I'm trying to use up a ball a day. Sounds impressive, but in reality there's only 55 metres (60 yards) in a ball, so it's not to hard a task. And right now, each row has 50 stitches, which is why it's growing so quickly.
And Kitri is also coming along nicely.
I've made a few mistakes in this one, but nothing glaring. A few rows have been tinked, but I love the pattern so far.
Twinkie would like you all to know that she gets no peace at all.
She can't even eat in peace!

Hey Twinkie, Ginger and Gigi sympathize with you My daughter is home from college and brought the boyfriend home for the summer. Both are determined to turn the girls into cuddle bunnies. So far the bunnies are winning.
Love the hat and David's vest looks great on him!
I love Kitri, looks really good in that yarn. :)
Em looks absolutely beautiful in that hat!
Posted by: Krystal at May 26, 2008 03:05 AMLove it, Love it love them all. Em should model she is such a pretty girl. I'll have to look more closly at the Kitri pattern. Your color is so much better than what was on the pattern.
Hugs to Twinkie
The hat looks great on Em! I have to admit I don't usually wear hats but I do love a beret type hat. I actually wore one I made last winter.
The sweater will be done in no time. Love the shade of pink.
The sock pattern looks like it is fun to knit.
And not lastly, Twinkie looks cute eating.
Posted by: Suzanne at May 26, 2008 09:19 AMThe hat looks great on Emily. She is starting to look so grown up now too. They dont stay little for long do they. I am sure Twinkie loves all the extra attention too.

And do you really think Twinkie would complain. Last week no cuddles, this week too many. I feel for the three of you :S You can't win. :)
Posted by: Lorelle Longhurst at May 26, 2008 10:15 PMThat hat is super cute on Em! And now I have to go look for the Kitiri pattern.... Good thing I drug the inlaws to the yarn shop yesterday, and now I have several balls of sock yarn from their Memorial Day Weekend sale... :)
Posted by: Cathy at May 26, 2008 10:49 PMThose fluffy big bunny feet! I'm ready to book a flight RIGHT NOW! You're killing me, stop, stop!
Posted by: Janet at May 27, 2008 05:54 AMI'm sure you don't need to be told this but...Em is a beautiful girl. The hat is adorable but the model is just as cute ;-) your a lucky mom and she is a lucky daughter!
Posted by: stacy at May 27, 2008 07:03 AMI'm not sure who is cuter... Em, or the bunny. But Em's wearing a handknit with flair and style, so we'll say she's cuter.
Still, that's an awfully cute bunny.
Posted by: JulieT at May 27, 2008 01:01 PMEm is adorable in her hat!
Posted by: Wool Winder at May 27, 2008 11:59 PMAw, Twinkie is so fluffy! (Someday, my house will be organized enough to house rabbits safely... right now, I'm afraid they'd be mistaken for balls of yarn or dustbunnies)
Flicker-ish looks great, and *yay* for Em for modeling!
Posted by: CraftyGryphon at May 28, 2008 02:12 AMEm looks so great in her new hat! and OMG what happened to Twink's ears?? She is so adorable and cuddly-looking.
