Long Weekend
I love long weekends, but they never seem to feel any longer than a regular weekend. Why is that?
Kitri has been captivating me, and number one is done.
It's pretty just laying there, but it looks even better on.
As modelled by Em. She ain't getting them though, they're mine, mine, MINE!
When I've finished the pair, I'll block the lace cuff out. I'm not sure that my feet are worthy of these socks though. Maybe I'll just frame them!
I did finish Gretel, and it's now blocking. I did not run out of yarn, but it was a very close call. Here's my leftovers.
I got a little panicky towards the end, and had to knit really fast to beat the end of the yarn. Don't knock it, it worked! (And who hasn't been there?)
And finally, Spirit is blocked, and ready for seaming. I was a little worried about using the boucle yarn to seam the sweater, but Kerry from my Stitch n Bitch group gave me an excellent solution.
Tapestry wool! 79c a skein, and it's a perfect colour match. Now, just the seaming to go!

The sock is gorgeous!
Posted by: Wool Winder at June 9, 2008 11:43 PMBeautiful sock! And yes, the color of the tapestry wool seems to match the color of the yarn very well!
Posted by: Kessa at June 10, 2008 12:02 AMSuch a pretty sock! :D It should definitely be for you, you, YOU.
Posted by: neek at June 10, 2008 12:46 AMPerfect match on the wool, how awesome is that. The sock is gorgeous.
Posted by: Restless Knitter at June 10, 2008 03:18 AMThe socks are very pretty.
Great match on the tapestry yarn. I actually used embroidery thread once with a cotton yarn to sew down the ends.
Posted by: Suzanne at June 10, 2008 10:29 AMOooh, those socks are something else entirely. And I have done the knit fast trick too. It hasn't always worked for me, so I am glad to hear that it did for you.
Posted by: amandaj at June 10, 2008 11:04 AMWhat a beautiful sock! And the colors are wonderful.
Posted by: Rusty M. at June 10, 2008 01:07 PMThe socks look great & I love the beads on the cuff. I had seen a pair IRL (in real live) during our knitting retreat. It's a great pattern.
Posted by: Ann at June 10, 2008 03:18 PMBeautiful! I am so tempted to get the kit but I like my socks higher up. Is there enough yarn in the kit to make the leg longer?
Posted by: KSee at June 10, 2008 09:07 PMOooo, definitely keep them for yourself! Tell Em she can knit her own, if she likes : )
That is a close call on Gretel, indeed. You are very lucky : ) The tapestry wool looks like a great solution - I will have to keep that in mind.
Your socks are lovely and if I were you I'd hide them from Em.
Socks scare me that's why I dont knit them.
Wow,very nice socks, you're very clever, not sure if Id have the patience,LOL
Ive managed to finish a few UFOs too, must collect evidence!!
I didn't realise that was what your sock would look like. The cuff at the top makes such a startling difference!!I often use the tapestry wool for sewing up or duplicate stitching or even intarsia!!!

Oh tapestry wool - great idea!! I must remember that next time I use tweed yarn! And the socks are truly fabulous. You really must wear them at least once before you frame them though!!
