Random Knits
Lets go all random, huh?
I finished my Fetching mitts, and I lurve them.
The yarn I used is Naturally Yarns "Sensation", which is a 70% Merino, 30% Angora mix.
The yardage on this yarn is pretty generous, 120m (131yds) so I modified the pattern a little.
Specs:
Yarn: Naturally Sensation in shade 300.
Needles: 3.5mm DPNS
Pattern: Fetching from Knitty.
These were super quick to knit, they took two days total. The recommended yarn, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino, has 89m (98 yds), but I had an extra 30m to play with. When I finished the first one, I knew I wasn't going to be happy with it, so I ripped out the cast off, and added an extra repeat.
Much happier with them now!
I quite enjoyed working with this yarn, too. It's a single yarn, not unlike the old Cleckheaton Angora Supreme, which I love. It's very sheddy, which didn't affect me an awful lot, seeing as I already have an inordinate amount of bunny fur around the house!
It didn't twist back on itself, like some singles do, and knit up into a lovely warm fabric.
Apart from the Fetchings, I've also been working on Wicked.
Coming along very nicely! And quickly, too. Not as quick as some, I'd like to point out. Amanda knit hers in four days!
Of course, I've also been working on the Kitri socks, which are getting very close to done.
Hopefully finished by next week.
And with all these things coming along so well, my mind moves on rather quickly.
Lace weight, beads, yum!
Twinkie would like you all to know that she's supervising, but it's getting pretty cold around here right now.

Your Fetchings look great. I love the color you are using for Wicked too. I can agree with Twinkie too, it has been a bit cold of late. Pity they dont have little bunny jumpers he could wear.
Posted by: sue at June 20, 2008 09:52 AMThe fetchings look great. I owe a friend a pair of fingerless mitts and I think I will make a pair of these.
Love Wicked, I now want to make one.
Posted by: Suzanne at June 20, 2008 10:46 AMThe fetchings are gorgeous! All your knits are beautiful - but can't wait to see what you make with the beaded laceweight.

Posted by: Jeanne at June 20, 2008 11:18 AMI have some naturally sensations that I didn't know what to do with, now I know - fingerless mitts! :) I love the colours on the Wicked, can't wait to see what the laceweight and beads becomes.
Posted by: Neek at June 20, 2008 11:25 AMFetching looks great on you. I knitted them last year but they barely cover the fingers as I ran out of yarn. I think I will knit another pair. Wicked is coming along beautifully. It will definitely be my next cast on.
Posted by: Ann at June 20, 2008 11:49 AMYour mitts looks so soft and lovely! And I love the colours in your Wicked. Now I want to make another one!
Posted by: amandaj at June 21, 2008 05:07 PMFetching are the best! A quick gift but like you reckon they are abit short, next pair Ill be going the longer length too!
Its gotten very cool here too,4'? with around 15 for the day!! and we re running out of wood!!!!
The Fetching mitts are beautiful.
I like this pattern and have knit it in multi-colour, handspun Merino. Next time I knit these mitts I'll try your alterations - thanks for sharing.
I love my Fetchings but literally used ever inch of yarn making them (which is why my ends are so short and insist on poking through to the right side), but if I were to make them again, I think I'd like to steal your modification to make them warm my fingers a bit more. Great idea!
