Something new
Thank you for all the lovely comments about Wicked. I've even worn it again this week! That's pretty rare for me, apart from my socks, I don't often wear my handknits.
I've had a bit of a bleh week, and haven't knit an awful lot, really. But it's an exceedingly rare week where no knitting gets done, and I managed some odds and ends.
No one guessed what my new project is!
Here's a close up.
I'st the Shetland Shorty from Knitty! But I'm obviously some sort of an idiot, because I'm not knitting it for myself. I'm knitting it for Emily. No doubt it will join the long list of things I've knit for her that she doesn't wear. However, she did beg me to knit this one, so let's hope that I'm wrong, and it becomes the most worn item in her wardrobe.
I'm using Jaggerspun Zephyr in Plum, doubled, on 3.5mm needles, and I seem to be pretty close to correct gauge. Well, at least it looks okay when wrapped around Em.
I've also been adding seed beads randomly for some sparkle. They're not hugely obvious, but you can see them in the close up picture.
I'm finding that it's actually a relatively easy knit, just a four row pattern repeat, easily memorised. Starting off was a pain though, those long, long rows of garter stitch to create the band and tie nearly put me off before I began.
Apart from that, I've started the second half of the Magic Carpet Ride.
And I've been working on my August socks. Which are a bit of a cheat, because they're plain old stockinette socks in DK weight, so they're pretty quick and easy.
I'm hoping these will be finished nice and early, so I'll have a head start on the next pair. It's not cheating, it's forethought ;)
Twinkie would like me to assure you that yes, she's still cute.
And a little bit shaggy.

I thought it looked like too much garter for Feb Lady!
Em is very lucky! Hope she realises!!
Posted by: roseredshoes at August 17, 2008 08:18 PMBoy, she better wear this one, what with beads and all! No more decorating the bedroom floor, Em - put it on and decorate yourself!
Posted by: Lynne at August 17, 2008 09:04 PMWicked - lovely.
Magic carpet ride...well, magic (dang! what a pretty little snippet of knitting).
Twinkie - yup. Still cute :-)
Posted by: shan at August 17, 2008 09:56 PMLovely knits - and cute bunny!
Posted by: Jeanne at August 17, 2008 10:22 PMOh for heaven's sake, this has to stop. If it weren't for the fact that you're so much quicker than me, I'd be knitting a shetland shortie too!
Posted by: Ailsa at August 17, 2008 11:53 PMThose knits all look so lovely. I do hope Em wears it. Perhaps you need her to start knitting some items for herself. Twinkie looks super cute as always.
Posted by: sue at August 18, 2008 01:00 AMGreat looking projects. The beads on the Shorty really adds a nice touch & I am sure Em will love it. I love knitting plain socks too especially if you are using such gorgeous yarn - the socks will look great.
Posted by: Ann at August 18, 2008 12:37 PMEm is so lucky you knit so many things for her!!! cant wait to see the FOs!!!
Posted by: Michelle at August 18, 2008 02:28 PMI'm sure Em will wear it once she sees how cute she'll look wearing it.
Maybe Twinkie can have a matching shorty! :)
Posted by: monica at August 19, 2008 04:28 PMI'm sure Em will wear it. Pretty color for a pretty young lady. That is in fashion here in the states for the school crowd.
Now what do you do with Twinkie's fur when you groom her?

Wicked looks so cool, love the colours on it. I think the Shorty should knit up real quick and purple is my fav colour. Twinkle is very cute.
