Behind
I've been a little quiet of late, and I do apologise. I owe lots of emails and rav messages too. I've been feeling a little blah. I'm blaming the weather. I'm sick and tired of winter, I wish it were over already. I'm tired of being cold.
Bundaberg was lovely and warm. I did come back, but we all had difficulty giving up the sunshine! (And the shower head which actually had water pressure)
Adding to my general malaise is the annual sewathon that takes place around this time of year. The sewing of costumes for Emily's dance school's annual concert. Somehow I always get myself roped into sewing piles of costumes.
This pile is in the process of becoming princess dresses for a horde of 5 - 7 year olds.
Another pile.
This will turn the same girls into mad professors. Then, they'll be dressed in this fabric.
In 60's style dresses for Hairspray. And some of the bigger girls are chefs.
That's not all of the costumes I'm responsible for this year, just the piles that are around the house right now awaiting my attention.
That's doing some major eating into of my knitting time. Which is probably also contributing to my case of blahs. But despair not, I've managed some!
I took the Firestarter sock to Bundaberg with me, and despite the stupid laws prohibiting knitting on Australian flights, I managed to get some knitting done. If I could've knit in the terminals and on the planes, I probably could have finished the sock!
It is coming along quite nicely though! And in the little bit of spare time I've managed to eke out at home, I've been working on the Shetland Shorty.
Also coming along nicely. If Emily doesn't wear it, I'm going to steal it back and wear it myself!

The sock looks great....I may have to make some for myself!!
Posted by: Melissa at August 29, 2008 12:17 AMOh my heavens, that's a LOT of costumes. Whatever will they do when you don't have a child in the school?
Posted by: CraftyGryphon at August 29, 2008 12:25 AMI take it no other mums sew at the dance classes where Em attends. It looks as though you have an awful lot of costumes to make. Pity you cant knit on the plane either, at least being able to knit takes some time out of the trip. I think I am ready for some warmer weather too, it has just been so cold hasnt it.
Posted by: sue at August 29, 2008 08:08 AMYou are so generous with your time sewing all those costumes each year for others. Where does all that energy come from, you need to share some of it my way.
Posted by: Anne at August 29, 2008 12:37 PMLoving those socks, and the shetland shorty!
Posted by: Michelle at August 29, 2008 09:15 PMI have been thinking about those socks for some time, but they scare the willies out of me! A bit like sewing really.
Good luck with the costumes and I hope your blahs hit the road soon!
Posted by: amandaj at August 29, 2008 10:20 PMI've been eying the Shetland Shorty for some time now. Will eagerly await your finished one!
Posted by: Charmaine at August 29, 2008 10:48 PMThat seems like a reasonable compromise. Why have your beautiful knitting decorating her floor?
Good luck with all that sewing - I think you're Wonder Woman myself!
Posted by: Lynne at August 30, 2008 02:41 PMThat is a lot of costumes!! They are so lucky to have you and your sewing skills.
Hope you get some knitting time - good stress relief and uses different muscles, don't want any OOS.
Cheers >^..^
Posted by: Beverley at September 3, 2008 03:06 PMYou are so brave to do all those sewing - I would not dare to volunteer for such a task. Such a shame for not able to knit on the plane - I am going to try when I fly to Singapore in Dec. Love the sock!
Posted by: Ann at September 4, 2008 12:14 PMOh good grief, that's a hell of a lot of costumes 0_o Hope you survive the onslaught!!
