Artistic Interpretation
So I've been working on my Magic Carpet Ride scarf in fits and starts lately, but much more since I finished Em's shorty and the Firestarters.
I'm about two thirds of the way up the second half.

Looking pretty good, huh?
So last night, I decided to have a bit of a read of the pattern. And discovered that I had stuffed up. Or done an Artistic Interpretation, you decide. (Personally, I'm going with Artistic Interpretation!)
See these diamonds?

They aren't right. Well, there's too many of them, anyway.
You get the diamonds by working one chart, then repeating the same chart, but offset by 4 stitches. After I did that four times, I was supposed to stop offsetting the chart, and work it all in a row again, getting triangles instead of diamonds.
I just didn't read the pattern properly the first time around. However, after looking at it all last night and today, I don't think it's bothering me enough to go back and redo it. I actually had no idea at all that mine wasn't right until I read the pattern last night and then went and looked at some of the finished ones on Ravelry.
I do like the triangles on the others, just not enough to rip out and redo 80 rows of lace!

It's your scarf. What you say (or do) goes, and it looks lovely. Especially in that colour.
Posted by: Jennifer at September 15, 2008 11:58 PMI wouldn't go back either. If I were going to rip out 80 rows, I wouldn't even start it again. I like the artistic interpretation.

Posted by: Meadow at September 16, 2008 01:24 AMThat looks alright to me - besides, the diamonds look fabulous.
Posted by: Shelley at September 16, 2008 09:08 AMI totally would NOT frog it! I think it looks great!
Posted by: RoseRed at September 16, 2008 09:38 AMIt does look beautiful Donna, your own personal design too. I wouldnt rip it back either.
Posted by: sue at September 16, 2008 10:09 AMI like the diamonds. I don't think I would rip back either. Anything more than 5 rows is more that I can take tinking with a lace pattern.
Posted by: Suzanne at September 16, 2008 10:43 AMI love the diamonds!
Posted by: Jussi at September 16, 2008 02:20 PMI think it looks great & I can't imagine ripping out 80 rows. While this pattern will be your very own design. Emm looks great in the Sheland Shorty.
Posted by: Ann at September 17, 2008 11:49 AMI think it looks great - I wouldn't rip it back. I vote for artistic interpretation!
