Random Knits
I also finished my Yarntini socks earlier in the week.
The colour is wrong, wrong, wrong. They're actually much brighter in person, and I love them!
I also have a decent amount of yarn left over, so if I can find a complimentary colour for toes and heels, I may be able to manage another pair.
This means that I finished two pairs of socks in September, yay me! However, I didn't let that stop me casting on for the next pair.
Marina Piccola in Fleece Artist Basic Socks yarn. While the socks are nice, I wanted to use this picture to show off some of my recent etsy purchases.
I love my Sunnyboy bag! (I actually have two!) It's the perfect size for my sock knitting, and I love the knitting related fabric it's made from. I got this from my friend Quilting Mick's etsy store, Buttontree Lane.
And the other item is my super cute new DPN holders. Here's a close up.
I got these from Compulsive Crafter on etsy, and I got a little pair of pigs too, that I forgot to take a picture of. (And she's keeping an eye out for Polar Bears for me, too!)
I love these little finds.
I did cast on something other than the socks, too. I've had some Blue Sky Alpacas Sport weight in the stash since we visited the US, and it's divine. I finally decided what to make with it, and yesterday I cast on. I'm making the Cropped Cardigan by Amy O'Neill Houck, from Blue Sky.
I cast on at lunch time yesterday.
By midnight last night when I went to bed, this is where I was up to.
(First picture is more accurate for colour)
Talk about speedy knitting! If I could knit everything this quickly, I wouldn't even have a stash! Mind you, I did have some difficulty wielding the 7mm needles at first. Quite a bit different to 2mm sock needles, and 3mm lace needles!

Now that's what I call a day well spent. I love how the stripes lined up on the yarntini socks.
Cool bag too.
Your comment about switching needle sizes was an "aha" for me, I'd been working on small needles and when I switched to a project with larger needles it felt all wrong and was hard to knit!
Posted by: Pam at September 26, 2008 09:38 PMI love the sunny boy bag! Boy that brings back memories! All your knitting is gorgeous as well, of course!
Posted by: Charmaine at September 26, 2008 10:12 PMLove those brightly colored socks. Arent those sunnyboy bags the best. I bought 3, one for myself and 2 for pressies for Christmas. She has such great fabrics too. Love those little elephant stitch holders too, so cute.
Posted by: sue at September 26, 2008 10:35 PMI know what you mean about larger needles feeling clunky when you've been doing Small Things for a while. I've been using 0 thru 4 for most of the year - when I first picked up a pair of 8s (which used to be my "normal" size) this month, it felt like I was trying to knit with pointy table legs!
Posted by: CraftyGryphon at September 27, 2008 12:00 AMoh, i love the little elephy's!
Posted by: marti at September 27, 2008 06:42 AMYou are busy, aren't you?
I switched from 2.75mm knitting the baby cardigan to a 5mm crochet hook to 6mm Knitpick Options for the baby blanket. I still find the 6mm unwieldy; perhaps it's the growing weight of cotton hanging off them!
Posted by: Lynne at September 27, 2008 10:10 AMLove the elephants! And of course the sunnyboy is fab - I've got the knitting fabric one too but in red (but of course!). I know what you mean about the big sticks - it just feels wrong doesn't it - but such quick progress - yay!
Posted by: roseredshoes at September 27, 2008 10:22 AMCute socks! I love etsy. I have found 2 cute bags on there, the latest is a bag to hold lace knitting but it hasn't arrived yet.
Posted by: Suzanne at September 27, 2008 10:50 AMYour Yarntini socks are perfectly matched - great job. You do have a great taste in your choice of patterns as I love both of your new projects, especially the cardi. Top down knitting is the best & the quickest like the FLS that I made.
Posted by: Ann at September 27, 2008 11:41 AMLOVE the socks!
Posted by: DKM at September 27, 2008 01:29 PMHi Donna - have I got a deal for you! I am not much of a fan of the green/pink colour combination myself and I have a skein of Mama E's C*eye*ber Fiber sock yarn in the 'Mermaids' colourway that you can HAVE (I'll even shout the postage!) if you think you would like to use it for something / anything. it might work somehow with your leftover Yarntini (though the colours are a little more muted in my yarn)? I got it as a prize on a blog contest and it's been sitting in my stash for 2 years. To be honest, I will never ever use it - the colours are just not very me. You can see a photo of it on ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/people/Daysfull/stash/sock
let me know if you're interested!
