Welcome!

Thank you everybody, for all the lovely comments and emails, they were all very much appreciated.

We have a new addition to our household. Meet Squeak!

On Wednesday we headed down to Wollongong for a rare midweek SnB, because the lovely Charmaine was on a flying visit home from Abu Dhabi. On the way home we stopped by the pet store to pick up a few necessaries for Twinkie.

Then Emily spotted the bird. And she pleaded, begged and made puppy eyes at me until he came home with us. (Actually, we don't know yet if it's a he/she, but I'm just in the habit of calling budgies "He" because our last one was a he.) It got named "Squeak" because of the noise he made when the lady caught him for us.

How does Twink feel about the new addition? See for yourself.

That was the first day, but she seems to just ignore the presence of the bird now. She's been a little more affectionate than normal, so it's not all bad!

On to the knitting! Tangled Yoke is finished, apart from the blocking and buttons.

I'm having some difficulty deciding on the buttons. I didn't have the cardigan with me when I got the buttons, and seeing as they were $1 each, I didn't want to buy 9 of each and waste $9, so I got just one of each. And now I can't decide, I like both.

The darker ones are a little more subtle, but the lighter ones are nice, too. Opinions?

And seeing as I finished Tangled Yoke, I decided to make a little something for a pregnant friend of the family. Baby knitwear in summer here in Australia isn't always practical, so I've become rather enamoured of Ysolda's toys. This time, I'm making Otto.

Apart from being insanely cute, these toys are quick to knit up, and gauge isn't really an issue. They can be somewhat fiddly though! So far I've knit Elijah and Sophie, so this is the third one. They make nice gifts when you don't know the sex of the baby, and when the weather isn't really suitable for knitwear either. I've used Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK for all three, and it makes lovely soft cuddly toys!

And in other news, Emily got David to paint her nails.

Some things just need to be documented!

Love the tangled yoke - can't decide for buttons!

I have Otto already to go - I'm finishing the stealth dougal and have some cream Jet for otto!

I like knittted toys - and heaven knows ti's not as if I have anything else to knit!LOL!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Ooh the budgie looks so cute. My uncle in law breeds them and I am sure if they have blue above their beak they are boys. I will need to check but he did say never to put 2 girls together as they will fight all the time too. I like the darker buttons on the tangled yoke. I think they look much nicer with the yarn you used. How nice is David doing Em's nails. I wonder if Isabelle will get Paul to do those things when she is a teenager.

Squeak is definitely cute!

Tangled Yoke is truly gorgeous - I think I'd go with the dark buttons, but if you prefer the light buttons ... oh well, whatever makes you happy!

I'm with you on documenting nails being painted by a guy ... looks like he has a pretty steady hand too.

Give Twinkie a few extra nibblies and all will be well I'm sure.

Merry Xmas to you and yours!

I think I like the darker buttons the best... but that's me.

I like the darker button too, and your TY cardi is gorgeous!! Harki says she knows how Twinkie feels, when an interloper comes into the house!! I am sure they will all get on well, Twinkie could paint Squeak's claws!!!

personally I like the lighter ones... I think they blend in more, and doesn't take away from the cardi, which is gorgeous bwt.

I love your Tangled Yoke. I like the darker buttons because they seem to blend more. And Squeak is a cutie!! I have a funny for you. John our 19 yo is a very laid back kid, no funny stuff from him at all. About a month ago he decided he needed some Christmas red and Christmas green nail polish. We searched out at least 6 stores for this stuff and finally found it. He had Kim and myself help him paint his fingernails red and green for two parties we went to. What a nut. I can't figure out what statement he's trying to make though.

I agree that the darker buttons look best, but either one would work.

I can't believe Em got David to paint her nails!

Catching up - that is great news about David - what a fantastic Christmas present!

Loving Tangled Yoke too - it is such a clever cable - sideways! Amazing!! Me, I like the darker buttons, but you could definitely do either one.

Wish my husband would paint my fingernails! Will have to show him this picture!

Isn't that cute (the nail painting)....and I love the parakeet, too. I think you have a boy bird because the cere (sp?) is blue. We've had two and I loved them. My vote is for the lighter button...and I love your sweater...just a beautiful job.

Oooohhhh...I love the tangled yoke. I think I prefer the darker buttons. They don't detract from the sweater.

Well, you asked and I don't know if we are any help but I like the darker button. The cardigan is so lovely. I love all the details and the color.

Squeak has found a great home. Love Twinkie's picture. Fantastic picture of David doing Em's nails.
We are having the coldest weather this week here in Alexandria. Lucky for us at work this week and next we can wear jeans.

Thank you for coming all the way to Wollongong to see me Donna! I had such a lovely day and it was so great to see you and Em. Your Tangled Yoke is gorgeous as everyone has already said and I would really love to see a photo of you in it. I had the same dilemma when choosing buttons for my Cherry. I ended up going with a lighter shell button as it stood out a bit more, but that is just me.
