Bushfires
I've had a couple of queries about our safety in regards to the bushfires currently burning in Victoria. Rest assured, I'm miles away. Over 300 miles away, in another State. And while there are a few burning in New South Wales, they're miles away from me, too. We did spend a large amount of the weekend watching the news coverage. There should be a special, torturous punishment for arsonists.
But if you have a hug to spare, please keep fellow Aussie knitter Rachael and her family in your thoughts, her husband is missing, her home is burned. If you're so inclined, a prayer wouldn't hurt, either.

I hadn't heard of the fires until you posted. I'm glad you guys are safe. It sounds like that fire beats the pants off any fire we've had here. Very sad.
Posted by: Restless Knitter at February 9, 2009 12:24 PMI just had a look at Rachael's blog, I cannot fathom what she is going through. I was watching Sunrise this morning and had to shed a tear at some stories. One man has lost his wife and 3 kids (literally cant find them). I hope they find their loved ones and it gets a decent bit of rain down there.
Posted by: Leeanne at February 9, 2009 12:27 PMAlmost unbelievable, isn't it?
Posted by: Lynne at February 9, 2009 04:40 PMSo glad that you and your family are safe. Viewed Rachaels page and was shocked. Will keep them all in my prayers.

Posted by: Jeanne at February 10, 2009 07:32 AMGlad to hear you and your family are away from the fires. I saw a bit on the news, just awful.
I will be praying for Rachael.
Posted by: Suzanne at February 10, 2009 10:31 AMHer blog has been taken down. I can't imagine the pain she must be in, and I can think about almost nothing else.
Posted by: Lara at February 10, 2009 09:26 PMI'm so glad you guys are safe. It's been all over our news here to. I just can't imagine how someone set this fire and all the lives lost. I had a look at Rachel's blog yesterday and I just can't imagine being in her situation. It's all so freakin' horrible.
