April 9

Am I ever glad for a long weekend! Today is Good Friday, and here in Australia, it's the first day of a four day weekend. Hallelujah!

Monday night I started to lose my voice. Tuesday night at the Easter Show Arts Preview, I could barely talk, and I've been feeling cruddy ever since.

The Arts Preview was great fun, though! Many bloggers and ravellers there, like Ailsa, Kris, Mary-Helen, Sally, Julie, Lien and Katie amongst others.

Unfortunately, my winning streak ground to a halt. I did get a Second place in the Fair Isle for Autumn Rose, but no other places. Ailsa however, got four places on her four entries, and Sheridan got two Highly Commendeds for her two entries. Lots of places for lots of Ravellers, the displays are much better this year than last.

So amongst feeling like crap, and boundless other things sucking up my time, there has been knitting. Nearly all of my knitting time has gone into the Aeolian shawl.

I'm really enjoying it, although it's pretty slow going, mainly because I'm stopping every 10 stitches or so to place a bead, which really slows the whole thing down.

The yarn I'm using is Mama Blue Silk Lace in "Urchin", and the beads are just 8/0 glass seed beads that I picked up on eBay.

Today, something very, very rare happened. I baked. Trust me, this is much more momentous than it sounds.

Banana bread. And it's good.

Twinkie would like you all to know she's being treated in the manner to which she has become accustomed.

And if she feels she isn't being treated appropriately, she just forces us to do her bidding.

Sorry to hear you're feeling crappy - a long weekend should do the trick (we've got one in Blighty, too. Yay!)
I think every household should have a Twinkle :o)

I went to the show yesterday and agree, the knitting is a lot better this year (by better, I mean better patterns, more modern stuff etc, not necessarily better quality knitting!!). Sorry you are feeling poorly though.

Congrats on your Kitri socks!! So lovely. And also happy blogthday.

And finally, congrats on finishing the bling thing - it really does look great on her, and I think doing the ribbing plain was a really good idea.

I hope you felling better now. Your shawl is pretty at any stage of the process. Bananna Bread, freeze it and ship it! I have not made bread since 1975! Before meeting Twinkie I would not have thought a bunny would be so interactive. She make sure she gets her attention while my 4 cats are more interested in getting fed and the boys with going out.
Happy Easter

Congrats on your win - it really is a gorgeous sweater! Love the new shawl - I just cast on for the same last night, and I'm enjoying it so much.

Hope you are feeling better, and that you enjoyed your long weekend!

Hope you are feeling better. Beads & lace sound like a lot of work but I am sure it will be worth the effort. I have those "baking" moments too!
