Urbanista
What a great knit Urbanista turned out to be! I cast on last Friday, June 18. I finished it on Saturday, June 19!
Doesn't it look great?! I didn't do much else on the Friday, so it wasn't super speedy, but it wasn't a long, drawn out project, either. And sometimes a two day project is exactly what I need.
In the end we went with the stockinette side out, it just looks neater, I think.
Specs:
Pattern: Urbanista from Knitty, Summer 2009, by Woolly Wormhead
Needles: 3.75mm Knitpicks Options
Yarn: Spotlight Basics 8ply Pure Wool
Mods: Apart from turning it inside out, none!
David's worn it every day this week, so I think this is a success!
Because he is the most appreciative recipient of my knitwear, I started a scarf for him this week, too.
It's just the Yarn Harlot's "One Row Handspun Scarf" in some Dream In Color Classy from The Loopy Ewe.
Two weeks ago, I finally caught a Wollmeise update, which contained Pfefferminz Prinz in the 100% Merino Superwash base. I have been trying to score this colourway for what seems like forever. I'd even come across updates in progress which didn't have this colour so I didn't buy anything. At All. Anyway, my beloved Pfefferminz Prinz showed up this week, and I'm not disappointed, it's gorgeous!
Marina asked to see the PP next to the Needlefood sock club shipment when it arrived. It hadn't occurred to me how to similar the colours were until Marina asked, but she's right!
The Needlefood yarn is lighter in colour, but definitely in the same colour family and they're both beautiful!
Today's bear is a little one, and is actually the first bear I ever made.
The ears are a little big, giving her a bit of a mouse-y appearance, but I'm still proud of her. It's a very easy pattern, there's no paw pads or anything, making it an ideal first bear. I still have the pattern somewhere, maybe I should give it another go!

Beautiful! That is one of my favourite colour combinations. A PP 80/20 might be arriving here today and I'm nearly sure it'll look quite similar to the Sweet Georgia that I have. Can't have too much of that combination.
Has David lost weight? The hat looks wonderful. Nice to have someone who appreciates your handknits.
Posted by: Marina at June 26, 2009 11:02 PMooh nice wollmeise!
Aren't apprecative husbands the best??!
Posted by: bells at June 27, 2009 12:34 AMOoooo.... Wollmeise... I've never even actually seen any in person, but SOMEDAY I'll get to the table at Stitches first...!
Posted by: craftygryphon at June 27, 2009 01:24 AMThe Urbanista looks great! I want to get around to making one of those too. I adore the bear, especially with her big ears.
Posted by: Walden at June 27, 2009 11:15 AMVery chic hat! I'm glad David is appreciative of the things you knit.
And the beatr is so cute - well done.

Posted by: missfee at June 27, 2009 05:19 PMLove the hat! David looks happy in his new hat.
I love the yarns, I have been leaning towards those colors lately.
The bear is so cute. I have one in a similar color that I bought at a craft fair years ago.
Posted by: Suzanne at June 28, 2009 10:47 AMUrbanista is amazing - what a great hat! And it looks very nice on your husband too....glad he likes it and wears it. My husband isn't a big hat wearer so I don't make him those (but he does like socks).
The Wollmeise is very pretty - what a great colorway!
Cute bear - I love the ears!
Posted by: Jeanne at June 28, 2009 11:28 PMGreat hat! Love the little bear. You should give it another go.
Posted by: Madame Purl at June 29, 2009 03:17 PMLove the hat. Good choice turning it inside out. Really makes the pattern pop.
One Row scarf is a fast and great knit. I've made two so far. I'm sure there will be more in my future as take alongs.
I've never seen the Wollmeise in person, one day.
David's hat looks fantastic, no wonder he has worn it every day. I like the scarf too. Those yarns both look GORGEOUS. I would love both of them. The cute bear is sweet, and I am sure you could make them much easier now if that was your first effort.
