Easter Show 2010
So the Easter Show Arts Preview was last night. I got to see all my knits and how they went.
Poor Rosa, she got nothing.
But the others made up for it!
Niebling doily - second!
(Proving that you might not be able to wash your knits, but starching is just fine!!
The Aeolian shawl, second place.
And Venezia, also second place.
Although I'm claiming a technical First place. For whatever reason, the judges decided not to award a first. I'm assured that this is because none of the entries were good enough. Make of that what you will. We'll never know what I should have done to improve Venezia in their eyes, because there's no feedback from the judges, and no explanation given.
Regardless, it's a haul I'm happy with!

Very weird judging, I think a Technical FP is fine!!! Well done.
Posted by: 2paw at March 31, 2010 08:04 PMVery weird judging, a shame there isn't feedback. But on the upside, congratulations on an excellent showing at the Show!
Posted by: Rose Red at March 31, 2010 08:35 PMYay, yay, yay! Congratulations!
When the Standards Convenor of the KGNSW spoke at our Guild meeting last year, she said the judges (of which she is obviously one) are under no obligation to award a first prize if they don't think there should be one. Of course, feedback would be very helpful - perhaps we can talk to the new President!
So what was that in your last post about not being a good knitter? ;-)
Posted by: Lynne at March 31, 2010 10:32 PMWooHoo,congradulations!!!Thats wonderful!!!!
Posted by: Cath at March 31, 2010 10:53 PMWow. Congratulations. Too bad they don't give feedback. It would be interesting to read what the judges were thinking....
Posted by: sue at March 31, 2010 11:40 PMI'm gonna count it as a first, darnit. Technical or no. Yay for all the pretty ribbons on your lovely things!
Posted by: craftygryphon at April 1, 2010 12:00 AMCongrats! I agree very much on the Technical First Place!
I especially love the Aeolian!
i dont understand the no feedback, obviously they dont actually care about helping people 'improve' their knitting. but then, they give prizes to weird psycho clown dolls so... but i am very pleased your beautiful things did so well. not so regional now huh?!
Posted by: drk at April 1, 2010 07:19 AMYou wuz robbed - on both Venezia, and Rosa. It almost makes me want to get involved with the guild to see if someone can try and figure out the judging...
Posted by: Ingrid at April 1, 2010 09:47 AMWell Done !!!..I was wondering how the starching would go .
Posted by: melissa at April 1, 2010 10:18 AMCongratulations! Too bad they don't give feedback just to satify the curiosity of why they judge the way they do.
Posted by: Suzanne at April 1, 2010 10:26 AMIf there's no first place, doesn't that mean your second place is really first place? Odd....
Posted by: Evelyn at April 2, 2010 07:10 AMWell done! They look gorgeous. Odd that there was no first?
Posted by: Shelley at April 2, 2010 12:46 PMWow - fabulous garments well done on all the ribbons!!
