Another Week
So, the Old Bus Depot Markets were awesome. Despite the fact that I managed to be as sick as the proverbial dog, and was hopped up on Sudafed all day! There was a lovely stream of people all day, and we were right beside the mulled wine guy, which was precisely what I needed. Hot wine does wonders for the 'flu!
And I took a camera, and had the iPhone, and the only photo I managed to take was this one, first thing.
And with a two hour trip to Canberra, and another one home, I'll bet you're all thinking that I've got heaps of knitting to show you. I started a pair of socks for Emily the day before the markets, the "Hearts and Flowers" socks from "Socks from the Toe Up" by Wendy Johnson. I worked on it on the way down, and I worked on it in the hotel the night before the market, and then I had to admit to myself that it was going to be too big for Em. So it's since been unravelled, and is now being reknit into the "Lace and Cable" socks from the same book.
The yarn is Knitabulous new base, the Supertwist Merino sock yarn, in the colour way "Emily's Birthday". (It was dyed for Em's birthday!) Love it.
Weekly knit score + one sock toe.
And Shimmer. I did work on it this week. I got all the way up to the armholes on the back before I admitted to myself that it was also too big. Frogged, and restarted.
Weekly knit score - one cardi back, + one sock toe.
And poor Tempest.
Looks exactly the same as the last time we looked.
Weekly knit score - one cardi back, + one sock toe. Dismal.
The comment competition is still going strong. We're closer than we were, not quite there yet though!

Tempest is in a gorgeous colour! One of my favourites, I'm looking forward to seeing it completed (no pressure here, right?).
Posted by: Marika at May 22, 2010 04:01 AMSeems to be the direction that most of my knitting has been taking lately as well! Can't wait to see Tempest all finished up.
Posted by: Mandy at May 22, 2010 06:10 AMHope your feeling much better now Donna! At least you discovered that everything didnt fit before you finished it so now you wont have to rip them back again. The market sounds as though it went very well!
Posted by: sue at May 22, 2010 07:25 AMDelurking to say that I love Em's birthday colorway. Which of course reminds me that we haven't seen any dance photos in awhile.... I love seeing the dance moves and Em's costumes.
Posted by: Sue at May 22, 2010 07:42 AMits mean spirited of me to think its about time you had a knitting week like the rest of us mere mortals, but think it i did. not that im happy for you, cos weeks like this really suck. but i know youll bounce back. hope you are recovering, from everything xx
Posted by: drk at May 22, 2010 08:51 AMThinking back to high school physics, I think you've been dealing with scalar, vs vector knitting. If you think of it as a vector (what you have to show at the end of it all), then not much has been accomplished. But if scalar (the amount of actual stitches you have knit), you have done really well!
Posted by: katewillknit at May 22, 2010 09:11 AMGet well soon!
Sometimes it feels like two steps back, no steps forward!!
Posted by: Lynne at May 22, 2010 09:35 AMThat new yarn from Ailsa is lovely to use. I did the mauve FBS for Canberra for her and have used more since, one pair of grandson socks and a Milkweed shawl for a friend. Socks, shawl and baby sweater all look great so it's very versatile with lots of lovely colours. Good number of metres too.
You're a real trooper, doing something like that while sick. Hope you are better now. I can't take sudafed. One dose is fine, any more and I turn into a shaking mess.
Posted by: Jan Bishop at May 22, 2010 10:12 AMawww - hope you are better now
Posted by: missfee at May 22, 2010 11:02 AMOh the dreaded overestimation of size strikes again.
Lucky Em: her own colourway!!!
Love the pink! Ailsa does such beautiful colours!
Posted by: Sheridan at May 22, 2010 11:42 AMI wish I could have visited your stall as it looks great. I have days like that too which I considered as 1 step forward & 2 steps backward. Don't worry, you will be up & running again. Happy knitting.
Posted by: Ann at May 22, 2010 12:01 PMHope you are feeling much better now. You and Ailsa did an amazing job last weekend.
I've had the knitting blahs for a while but I think I am coming out of it. Didn't seem to affect my stash expansion though...
Nice photo, it sounded like a great day even if you were sick. The colour of the socks 'Em's Birthday' are very pretty. You can't get too much done while sick.
Posted by: Annie at May 22, 2010 03:49 PMLucky Em, to have her own special colour!! Hope pattern #2 does the trick in terms of size.
At least you have done more knitting than me this week (not that I'm a good comparison, really!).
Posted by: Rose Red at May 22, 2010 06:50 PMAs a fellow sinus sufferer, it does always seem to hit at the crappiest times...
And as far as knitting progress goes, you're doing a heck of a lot better than I am.. LOL
I can't wait to see Tempest sewn up though.. ;)
Posted by: Tia at May 23, 2010 12:31 AMHmm not a good week here either, got the flu too but still knitting and spinning a lot,my computer is dying, using home work one now,got 2 large uni assignments to complete tommorrow night,Hmmm going to give up tonight and go knit my Garter st cardigan....
Posted by: cathy at May 23, 2010 12:35 AMI have weeks like that where it seems like I knit but nothing looks any longer than when I started. Hope you are feeling better.
Where does the knitting go when you keep measuring and measuring and it's always the same? Or it is shorter than the last time you measured? That's when I just give up and go do something else...like throw the knitting at the wall..teehee. Hope you are feeling better and I love the colors of all the projects.
Posted by: R. Morris at May 24, 2010 11:36 AMSorry to hear that you had a bad knitting week. Can't wait to see the Tempest when it is finished.
Congrats on your good showing at the Old Bus Depot Markets
Posted by: CelestialSiryn at May 24, 2010 03:32 PMReading all my favourite blogs at the moment, and there appears to be loads of ripping and tinking going on (including in my house). it must be the weather or something. I'm sure I'm unravelling more than I'm knitting. Really love the Tempest by the way.
Posted by: SallyO at May 25, 2010 10:24 AMThe markets looked like fun, hope you rugged up cause it would have been cold aswell.
Hope you feel better soon.
I'm noticing a fair emphasis on pink there... :-)
The market sounds like it was fun.
Ugh! I have weeks like that with the knitting. It's enough to drive you mad! Everything looks pretty though.
Feel better soon.
