And I did!
So I actually managed what I set out to do in my last blog post. Well, kind of.
The needle rolls are all sewn up, but I couldn't find the linen tape, so I've ordered more, and have to await it's arrival.
Sophie is finished.
I love all of Ysolda's toys! They make such cute baby gifts - I don't have to worry about whether they'll fit, or the season, and everybody seems to love them.
Specs:
Pattern: Sophie by Ysolda Teague
Yarn: Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk
Needles: 2.75mm DPNS
Mods: None! Although I stitched the eyes instead of French Knots, because my french knots kept sinking into the head.
Like I said, I love these toys, they're all great fun to knit, and she writes such great directions that are easy to follow. Except for one thing.
The ears are an almighty pain in the butt. Those first few rows are torture. But they work so well and look so great when they're done, that it's worthwhile!
I also worked on the Oblique sleeves!
Up to this point I was doing both sleeves at once, but I've run out of one of the balls of yarn, so I'll finish them off one at a time - I'm starting to feel like there's an end in sight now!

Posted by: Suzanne at October 8, 2010 09:39 AMOoh Sophie is a cutie isnt she. I love knitting those toy patterns too and found the ears and arms really hard to do on the elephant. Your sleeves are looking quite nice, isnt it great when you know how close you are to finishing.
Posted by: sue at October 8, 2010 01:34 PMSophie bunny is too too cute - but those ears - oy!! Like knitting with a hedgehog in your hands!
Posted by: Rose Red at October 8, 2010 02:07 PMSometimes two circulars are easier. I have the pattern for Elijah, which I'm itching to knit... when I've finished one or two things...
Posted by: Tam at October 8, 2010 03:46 PMOh, she is so cute. I have about 5 of her patterns to do. I am now employed so my life might return to normal!
I did not know you had a shop so I marked it as one of my favorites and will be notified when you post something new. At this time I do not need anything for myself but they will make great gifts. If the postage to USA is not too much.
Sophie looks gorgeous. I really admire your patience in knitting toys as the parts are all so small. I can't see myself doing this.

Donna the bunny is so cute! One of these days I will get around to doing some of these cute little animals. Maybe when I am expecting a little one to knit them for. Super cute!
