Cancan scarf
So I finally pulled my finger out and finished the Can Can scarf. It didn't take long, but I lost interest in it pretty quickly after I'd started it.
This doesn't bode well for when various family members see it and want one, does it?
And now you get to see what happens when you leave a 17 year old alone with a tacky scarf and a camera with a self timer. If you make it to the end, I've got some exciting news! (How's that for bait?)
Specs:
Yarn: Rico Design Can Can in "Fuchsia", purchased from Crafty Yarn in the UK
Pattern: Off the ballband, although you don't need one. Cast on 7 or 8 sts. Knit. Cast off.
Needles: 7mm.
Mods: I don't know how many mods you make to "cast on 7, knit, cast off"!!
I've been pretty busy, and Em was bored so I told her to "go take a few pictures".
I really must teach her the meaning of "a few". What you're seeing here is what's left after I culled a bunch. I think there were about 90 pictures to choose from.
Do you think she likes taking pictures of herself? This is what we find every time we check out the contents of the various memory cards laying about the house.
By the way, she got her HSC results last week, and she did much better than we expected. (If Facebook had been a subject, she would've done even better!!) She also learned that she passed her audition for the course she wants to do. No official notifications until next month, but it's looking pretty good right now, which is a great relief to everyone.
I think that one is my favourite!
And my exciting news? Calico & Ivy is a fabric/yarn store in Perth which is opening it's doors in Sydney on January 10. You can get a sneak preview of the gorgeous store here.
The most exciting part? I'll be working there, Mondays and Tuesdays! (Must remember that I can't bring everything home!)

Happy dancing!
Congratulations! Wish I could go there, especially now when we have 40 cm of snow and -18C...
Yay. Congratulations
Posted by: jp at December 22, 2010 05:18 AMSo, are they going to pay you in yarn? hehehehe! Congratulations, that is fabulous news! I will check out the store very soon!

Posted by: Yarna at December 22, 2010 06:11 AMGreat news on the job! Scarf looks great too. Not bad for 'novelty yarn'.
Posted by: Kate at December 22, 2010 07:29 AMEm looks lovely in the scarf. Glad she has fun with the camera.
Congrats on the new job! It is hard to not leave the whole paycheck there. I worked in a Jewelry department once and it was tough, I buy jewelry but tend to be too lazy to put it on everyday.
Posted by: Suzanne at December 22, 2010 10:07 AMThe scarf is adorable, I love the color! And when did Em go from being an adorable little girl to being so gorgeous?! That color really suits her.
Posted by: Marlena at December 22, 2010 10:08 AMI think Isabelle would do the same thing with our cameras. She has her own and went to her cousins and showed me all the pics they took of each other! Congratulations to Em on her results and to you too on finding a perfect job. Oh to work in a yarn store would be fabulous but I would be worried about spending all my money on yarn!
Posted by: sue at December 22, 2010 11:00 AMWorking in a yarn store! [faints]
Posted by: Tam at December 22, 2010 11:49 AMI love that colour !!! and your self portrait model looks cute in it ;D
Congrats on the new job, I'll be looking forward to coming in and checking it out :D

Posted by: Restless Knitter at December 22, 2010 03:26 PMHi Donna, This is good news all round. I know Calico and Ivy from visiting the shop in Perth, and I used to work in Birchgrove, so I know what to expect and the location. I will try to call in and say hello.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year

After years of shopping at Spotlight you KNOW that is exciting, you know it!!!
Posted by: Sheridan at December 23, 2010 06:05 AMCongratulations on both jobs, I think being a library assistant would be a nice job to have.
Nice work on the scarves, Em is such a character and it is great to hear she did well in her exams.
WOW!! THAT IS EXCITING NEWS! (so exciting I had to use the caps lock!!).
